I would recommend changing the third brake light seal every time you remove the light from the truck, if not on a schedule. One of the biggest issues that cause water intrusion in to the 4th gen Ram trucks is the 3rd brake light seal hardening and failing. The seal came with adhesive tape preinstalled and ready to use and fit well. If you are looking at these, go ahead and get one or two because you will likely need sooner than you think, especially once you start smelling the odor of carpet starting to mold and mildew. ... show more

    • Decent Upgrade with Some Fit Issues

I purchased the RUNHWEE High Mount 3rd Brake Light for my 2014 Ram 1500 2WD, and while it's a decent upgrade, it wasn't without its challenges. The LED tail lights do provide better visibility and the smoke lens looks stylish. However, the fit was not as seamless as I hoped. The clips on the assembly didn't align perfectly with my truck, and I had to break them off to make it fit. While it eventually worked out, the installation process was more cumbersome than expected. The design of this alone is so very futuristic, like Tron type of style and there is also a nice little x that runs across when braking. The white light for this brake light is very bright which I love because my truck parks in a car port so when I unlock my truck before walking out at night, it lights up the whole entire area around the bed. This white light does not turn on when driving so there is no need to worry about blinding drivers. The installation took less than 15 minutes and it really does give my truck a whole new feel because I have a silver truck and this light just adds a really nice solid look to the back side of my truck that now, we have to switch out the rest of red ones to complete the look. This gasket seems to fit and stick just fine. Not much else required besides keeping water out. Burnt out bulbs in your Ram's 3rd brake light might mean water is seeping in and shorting out the bulb. I realized the heat from the OEM incandescent bulb (even on a Laramie) will melt the housing a bit and the factory gasket glue. See pictures with the dust coming in towards the bulb, only visible after taking the factory gasket off. I'm hoping this replacement works better, with the upgrade to LED for those bulbs. ... show more
