I am usually a size L but I ordered the XL because this costume is supposed to be loose and I'd rather have to take it in than try to let it out. I am 5'7 for height reference and the gown does not reach my ankles but still seems long enough. The gown is a thick and 100% polyester. The fabric is actually slightly glittery up close, but it isn't noticeable from conversation distance. The hood is nice and big like in the movie and the sleeves are big and long without being inconvenient. The gown is slightly sheer despite being thick, so make sure you have a slip or at least skin color matching underwear. The belt has velcro fastening the back, it fits me well but I am very hourglass. The XL belt is 33" around when fully closed, because of the length of the velcro strip you could have it tighter or looser. The wig looks great but was too small for my head. My head is 23" around and I have long thick hair, so this may not be a problem for most people. The side buns on the wig are fairly small, nowhere near as big as in the movie.Each bun is 3.5 inches across. Out of the package the costume smells strongly of formaldehyde, so I would recommend a gentle wash on cold for the dress and a line airing out for all of it. This is a nice option for a Princess Leia's A New Hope costume if you don't want to have to make it from a pattern. For reference I am not wearing the wig in the photo of me in the costume. Since my hair is long and dark brown I will make my own cinnamon roll hair buns. The gun in the picture is a nerf gun I modded and does not come with the costume. ... show more

Sizing: I'm 5'8". Based on other reviews, I thought I might need a size Large for the dress to be long enough. However, the Large was sewn badly, with the sleeves obviously different lengths. I tried the Medium instead. It was sewn perfectly and was actually longer than the Large. It fell to my lower ankles/tops of the feet. Positives: Compared to Rubie's older version of this costume, the hood on this version is much improved - much closer to the screen version. That really sells this version. The side slits are slightly smaller, and the sleeve openings have slightly more drape. Neutral: The material has a slight silver shimmer to it. It's thin, so plan to have a neutral-colored slip or other body wear you can wear under it. Negatives: The belt isn't great. The rubber version in Rubie's older version looked more legit. Also, as all the other reviewers have noted, the wig is embarrassing. Since the hairstyle is what makes or breaks this costume, it's a shame that Rubie's didn't put more effort into it. It has thin spots, and the buns are barely twisted pieces of hair lazily held together with a rubberband. On mine, they weren't even in a bun shape. Overall verdict: The dress is a great base for a Princess Leia cosplay, but plan to buy your belt and wig separately. ... show more

This fit me like an absolute dream. Not too tight but not too loose. And the hem is perfect! I'm 5'5 about 153lbs, ordered a large. Curvy in the hips with a bit of a mom belly. The belt hides that and I still have room to layer - being in Alaska it's gonna be cold! The wig was awful, the buns are so small and the wig barely fits. I might just use it to tuck my hair up and keep my hood on, so no one can see how awful it is lol. May also buy some Leia ear muffs for the warmth. The fabric has a beautiful shimmer. Very pleased with this costume. I read the reviews before purchasing, and while some have had bad experiences with their Leia costumes, I thought the costume was very good for the price point. The material is slightly sparkly/shimmery but I think it made the dress look better quality. The belt was cheaply made but looked fine on. Because of the reviews regarding fit, I expected it to be large and drapey and it was just as I expected. I agree with others that the wig is rubbish, and even if I was desperate enough to wear the wig, it was too small to comfortably fit my head (and I have a small head). To get the buns, I cut the buns off the wig and bobby-pinned them on using my own hair to wrap around the outside. See photo of me and my pup! Enjoy! ... show more

So I am 5'8" and typically a size 8. I went with the medium so it would be more flowy on me like the dress in the movie. The dress is a nice thick and slightly sparkly fabric but like the other reviewers mentioned, slightly see through. I wore skin tone undergarments and a slip just in case the sun hit me from behind. The belt I had to hot glue the silver pieces back on as they were popping off after wearing it for only a few hours. Not sure if that is because it's really dry here or if it was just really old to begin with. Don't get me started on the wig. It was a bit small for my head and before I even was able to put it on one of the buns fell apart. I was grateful for the hood so that I could cover the hair. I tried to fix the bun but I didn't have enough time. The second time I wore this costume I used my own hair to make the buns... which worked OK but my hair isn't really long enough to pull it off well... hood to the rescue again. The price on this costume tends to fluctuate on when you buy it. I originally bought one in Sept for $39.99 but had to return it due to a defective belt (paint stuck/came off). When I reordered it in Oct the price went up to $46.35. So I recommend ordering this costume early (if you need it for Halloween) for the best price!
