  • Great for a Vegas Party
Style: Stormtrooper Costume
Like W. Morgan I purchased the Supreme Storm trooper costume with a degree of trepidation. Living in Australia I need to purchase a costume for a fancy dress wedding in Las Vegas. I was arriving only a few days before the wedding and had limited opportunity to make any modifications as described by the other reviewers. To my pleasant surprise I found that little work was required to get the costume into operation. In fact I only started the modifications 90 min before I needed to be in the foyer of the hotel ready to be picked up for the wedding. I am 182cm (6foot). I believe the costume is designed for this height or a little taller since I had no problems with the length of the arms / legs. Whilst I might be the right height, I am a bit on the skinny side. My weight is 78kg (171 pounds) with very skinny legs and arms. To my horror the shin armour did not stay attached to my legs no matter how tight I fixed the Velcro. So instead of replacing the existing Velcro with industrial strength versions as per the other reviews (I pre-purchased 5" wide industrial strength in Australia before I departed) I was desperately rigging up a system that held the thigh plates to the shin plates. Luckily this only took about 30min to resolve with Velcro holding the two shin plates to the thigh plates. With an hour left I made a number of other modifications. This involved replacing the existing Velcro on the biceps plates and the shoulder plates. My changes were a bit rough and ready and I do plan to improve on the changes once I have the costume back in Australia. In terms of quality the armour itself is of good quality. Everyone at the wedding was very impressed with how genuine it looked and felt. One of the big challenges at an alcohol charged Vegas wedding was how I was going to go to the toilet. I decided to put on the black body suit with the zip at the front. This allowed better access. I was surprised to find that there wasn't too much difficulty going to the toilet. In terms of comfort the suit is fine for standing and walking, but trying to sit down is very difficult. It was a major challenge to squeeze into a limo to get to the wedding. The legs don't bend to a full 45 degrees making sitting very difficult. Potentially this could be resolved with a little more time. In the end I needed a lot of help getting in and out of the limo. Sitting down later in the evening at the wedding was uncomfortable as well. As mentioned by the other reviews the helmet is not great. It is very difficult to see out of and next to near impossible to hear out of as well. This is surprising since the quality of the armour is so good. I think if I was to use the costume on a more regular basis I would need to get a better helmet. I believe you can purchase versions that the stunt people wore during filming that have better lenses, etc. Overall for just over $500 it was a worthwhile purchase. My other option was to hire the costume which would have cost $350 anyway which is a rip off considering the purchase price. I have noticed that since buying it the price has gone back up again by around $100. This price is still reasonable however with some of the issues outlined above I would probably not recommend spending much more than $750. ... show more

  • it's great overall. Starting with a few cons
Style: Stormtrooper Costume
Don't get me wrong, it's great overall. Starting with a few cons: -Bit big for me (5' 9"), but that's just life. -There's a good amount of noise when walking around, but they don't call them Stormtroopers for nothing, right? This would probably be alleviated slightly if it fit me better. Parts clang against each other as it is, though. -Getting this outfit on and off isn't easy. You're absolutely gonna want someone to help you. I mean, I guess you could do it yourself, but I imagine that'd be pretty hard. -The effectiveness of the Velcro on the included black bodysuit is dependent slightly on how well the costume as a whole fits you. For example, if you're a bit short for it (like me and apparently Mark Hamill), the shoulder guard may come too close to the arm guard, or the arm guard may come too close to the wrist guard. -Don't plan on sitting down in this. All that said, onto the positives: -It looks great. -The helmet is relatively comfortable, though it would almost definitely get stuffy in there after awhile. Vision is dependent on how you angle your head, and it isn't great, but it could be much worse. If you want to wear glasses in it, it's possible, but it'll be less comfortable. Granted, I have a slightly bigger head than some others. You could compensate for lack of space by trimming down some of the cushioning in the helmet. -The parts seem pretty sturdy. I wouldn't bang them against the wall or anything, but it seems they might take a few hits (unlike actual Stormtrooper armor). I'm careful with the helmet, though, because it certainly doesn't seem as sturdy as the rest of it. And lastly, in case anyone's wondering, here are some related products that you don't need if you buy this: -Ribbed neck cover (I was told that my neck wasn't really visible unless you were to lean down and turn my head) -Black body suit (one's included, don't make the mistake I did) ... show more

  • Awesome but fragile for the price...
Style: Stormtrooper Costume
REVIEW FOR THE STORMTROOPER OUTFIT PROS: Looks great if you switch out the helmet for a blackseries helmet which is what I’m wearing in the photo. Many people asked for pictures at Halloween parties last weekend. Overall, looks great!! CONS: I had to modify many pieces by trimming the legs and arm pieces in order to move around somewhat comfortably. Item was too small around the thighs, the backstrap that wraps around the back armor piece had broken completely off and will now have to drill a hole for it to fix it, if you accidentally bump into something (easy to do since it’s hard to see obviously) the armor gets scratched very easily in which thick black marks will appear and I will have to repaint it. Many velcro straps broke off as well on the shoulders, chest piece and thighs. I had to super glue them all. The forearm pieces also slide down so I had to use pins to tighten the strap that connects them all. I feel like it gets damaged way too easily for a $700 outfit. I was hoping this would be my outfit I could wear every Halloween for many years to come but so far, it doesn’t seem like it will last long without maintenance which is a little disheartening since I spent my hard earned money that I’ve been saving up for a long time on a product that breaks easily that also should have been around $300-$350... and that’s being generous. OVERALL: Would have been much more satisfied if this product was somewhat durable since the cost is $700 and since I have to fix many flaws with the outfit, I have to give this a lower rating. If I didn’t have to worry about anything breaking off at all just from simply walking, I’d rate this product a 9/10 or 5 stars. However, giving the expensive cost for a product that gets damaged easily, I give this a disappointing final score of 4/10 or 3 stars. ... show more
