When I received the the package, I couldn't help but start assembling. The whole process requires patience. The only drawback is that the wooden parts need to be taken out very carefully and are likely to be broken. If the instruction manual can be colored, it will be easier to identify. Since I am not very familiar with the circuit, it took a lot of time to install the circuit. Fortunately, I succeeded in the end. I was so happy when I saw this kit, since I have the other 2. This is the best kit so far, having the bottom light and additional hard plastic elements make it really unique. I hope there’s more book nooks to come.

    • Lights didn’t work.
My daughter loves it but none of the lights work. I was going to get a refund but she already put it together.

    • A delight to build
This took me about half of a day to put together. Everything that you need is included, though I would recommend having some super glue on the side in case of emergencies. Some of the pieces are very delicate to install, but the overall frame is very sturdy. There aren't many flimsy pieces, and I only had one piece snap (which I then glued together). The hardest part was gluing the waterfall to the plastic land, as it was constantly springing away from the plastic. I ended up resorting to super glue for that. The lid is also a bit of a nightmare, so be prepared for that portion to take awhile to do. Once it was done, it lit up nicely. The touch power button has just the right sensitivity to it. Assembled size is similar to a dictionary, I'd say, making it ideal to stick on a bookshelf as an accent piece. ... show more

I'm a bit addicted to these book nook kits, and I'm really glad more and more options are becoming available. This is the fourth one I've built, so I feel like I have a good basis of comparison. In general, I won't say it was necessarily difficult to assemble. The instructions were mostly clear, but some printing issues in the book made it unclear at one point which pieces I was supposed to use (for example: it said to use piece E3_ but the second number was missing, and it definitely wasn't E3. The entire page was like this for that piece.) I obviously was able to figure it out, but still... These nooks come with tiny pieces that can be difficult to hold, and aspects of the build are pretty intricate. Often times when pushing pieces into tight-fitting holes, the wood layers flake off causing the piece to then fit too loosely. The glue helps with this. This is an issue I've run into with every one I've ever built, though, so I've come to expect it. The glue holds well to the wood, but it does not hold the plastic or acrylic pieces at all. The giant green rock formation and the waterfall pieces would not adhere, so I had to pull out the E6000 and then I was in business. Additionally, I will say the electronic portion of this one was the easiest of all of them so far. It had the clearest and easiest explanation of installation, which I was so relieved about. This is an absolutely beautiful kit which allows you to build a 3 dimension diorama type bookend. The kit comes with all of the necessary parts to build a really amazingly detailed bookend scene. Most of the parts are wooden and are pre painted and laser cut so it's very easy to remove the parts from their sheets of wood. I just can't get over how detailed and beautiful this kit is. It will be a true joy to build and display this on my bookshelf. I've also noticed there are a few other Bookend Diaramas (BookNooks). I will certainly be getting other scenes. This is charming and wonderful and fun to put together. It isn't meant for children, with all its little pieces, but for one a bit older, it is fun, challenging, and completely adorable. The mirror at the back makes it seem like it goes back even further than it does. It looks really darling on a book shelf, as if there was a gap into a hidden room. Very fun project. ... show more
