    • Great kit; make sure you plan a couple extra days in case of problems
This is a 4wd lift kit - I installed it on a 2wd 2002 Avalanche. That works fine, you just have some leftover parts. The parts are extremely well built, heavy-duty, with a great finish. 10/10 for quality. The instructions are only fair. Some photos are taken of the driver's side, some of the passenger's side, and it isn't always labeled which is which. The text refers to one side while the photo shows the other and this makes it very confusing. Some are taken looking rearward, some taken looking forward, and that isn't labeled either. Not all of the measurements listed for wrench/socket size are correct but I expect that varies between the various vehicle models this kit can be installed on. Most steps are well explained, while a couple towards the end are completely forgotten. 7/10 for instructions. There were a couple problems that prevent me from giving this a 5-star review. The kit comes with what they call an "NTD Bracket" which essentially allows you to retain the original torsion bar location, as opposed to other (inferior) kits that require you to drop the torsion bars down lower and kill your ground clearance. It is made with a few separate parts that get machined, then welded together. One was made correctly - the other had it's individual parts machined correctly but someone slipped a quarter inch when welding it together. It was not possible to get a bolt and nut where the bolt and nut should go and I had to machine it myself to fix it. Additionally, two of the bolts that were supplied for the rear sway bar links were 1/2" and should have been 7/16" instead. The 1/2" would fit the vehicle fine but would not go through the sway bar links provided with the kit. I just turned them down slightly. The manual says to call Rough Country with any issues, which I did not do. It wasn't difficult for me to fix the issues myself but I bet not everyone has a mill, lathe, and dremel available. I'm sure they would have been happy to send a replacement part but I can only be without a vehicle for so long. I'm still giving this a 5-star review since the issue was minor and I'm sure they would have fixed it, but I do want to note this for anyone else that is counting on a trouble-free install. Stated that no cutting would have to be done with 35×12.5R20 20x9 -12 offset which was a major lie!!! Had to cut multiple items inluding $350 Bumper!!!!

I put this lift on my 2004 chevy avalanche and it all worked perfectly except for the rear bump stop extentions, which I ended up seeing no point on putting these on becase the bump pad did not line up with the rc extention that bolts on the top of the axle. I have been driving the truck for almost two months without the bump stop extentions, and have been nowhere close to maxing out the flex on the rear. This lift also only comes with new front shocks and just some simple extentions to make the stock shocks work in the rear. I thought that this was too cheap so I purchased some skyjacker hydro shocks made for a 1500 with a 6 inch lift and they fit perfectly and ride very nice. This is my main reccomendation if you want to get this lift. Other than those two small things, the lift was stright forward to install, the rc youtube video helped a TON as well. If you are worried about fitting tires on an avalanche (with cladding), I added the rc 1.5-2.5 keys to the front ontop of the lift and I am running 35x12.5 -44 offset with slight rub after some plastic trimming. ... show more

Took 2 people 4 (8hour days) to install with out a lift on the ground because we replaced the oil pickup tube seal also because we already had the front differential out. The oil pickup tube seal should be replaced every 100k. We also replaced the torsion keys with the RC one to three inch lift torsion keys to level it out and added the RC 2inch wheel spacers, rc steering damper, RC rear shocks and RC kicker braces. The picture is the back lifted and front is stock with factory tires so you can see the difference and another of the dust boot. The instructions don't match the YouTube video instructions. The instructions didn't tell you all the tools in the tool list that you're going to need because the kit has changed since they printed the instructions so there are different things that are missed. The front driveline slips out of the transfer case about 3/4 of a inch causing the driveline dust Boot to be worthless. Over all I like the lift but 35's wouldn't fit with out cutting the bumper or doing a body lift. I'll will be putting a 3 inch body lift on it to fit the 35inch tires, so I don't have to cut anything. I'll update with more pictures and information as time goes on. mounting the abs wires was not good, we had to zip tie them. I feel like the front differential should have been tilted up 3/4inch more in the back to compsate for the drive line length. This isn't my first lift, but it was my first RC lift. I would have gave it 5 stars if the instructions where updated,and if it came with rear shocks instead of the brackets, and the cv axle spacers were made out of CNC aluminum. I will update as time goes on. Update: one year later and it still runs good. I notice it has a little bit of bump steer even with the RC steering dampener. I pulled my camp trailer with the lift and the springs are stout enough that there's no sag. ... show more
