There are several things that are essential in camping. Of those, water is the primary essential. This 5 gallon collapsible water carrier is great for base-camp water storage! It features a strong hinged handle for moving the container around, and thick, strong eyelet on the back of the container for hanging. You can hang the container in a tree or other high-point, allowing easy access to the container's twist-lock spout. Personally, I like to camp in areas that have running water like rivers and streams. This allows me to pack in this super-light water container while it is empty; the container collapses into a relatively small, flexible package.I can then fill it up with water from the river or stream, and use my "Polar Pure Water Disinfectant With Iodine Crystals" to treat the water, making it safe to drink. I take a coffee filter and place it between the spout and the container to filter out particles, giving me clean, treated water any time. If not excessively active, humans need about 16 cups per day in drinking water, which equates to a half gallon. That means that this container will be enough drinking water for 2 people for 5 days! Add in cooking and cleaning water, and that reduces it some, depending on your conservation efforts. I like to take two containers, fill and treat both on the first day. Then, when the first runs out, I switch to the second and fill and treat the first again if needed. Additionally, you can use these as a shower. From your local hardware store, you can purchase tubing that will fit tightly onto the spout, and a cheep shower head to fit on the other end. Hang it high in the sun, and be clean while camping! Of course, if it were black, it would absorb the sun's heat better, but it is still relatively effective, especially for summer camping. These are economically-effective, super-durable, easy-to-use water containers with a variety of camping applications. Every base-camp should have at least one, preferably two, combined with "Polar Pure Water Disinfectant With Iodine Crystals" to treat the water with if you are gathering from local sources. ... show more

I ordered two of these carriers and what arrived was not at all like the picture. The ones that arrived had molded-in handles and seams on the edges. I already have an old carrier which is of the design pictured. The Army Universe ones are made of a much softer material, and frankly, I don't trust them to hold water and resist puncture. When I tried to return the ones sent to me, Army Universe customer support would not admit any kind of mistake and refused to provide a full refund. And they further added it was not about the money for the refund; they needed to prove a point that they weren't wrong about their water carrier. Really, I would expect customer support to have a little more humility. I wouldn't recommend these carriers. What you see is not what you get. ... show more

When I first opened this i was worried it was flimsy. It more than did the job and allowed me to sit and relax while camping as opposed to runnig to the water spout every few hours for water. I was able to do dishes, drink, and wash up fro 3 days and not refill this
