UPDATE: I checked the ring and it has the 925 mark inside it. 👍 ORIGINAL REVIEW I was looking for an emerald for my wife on our 20th anniversary. I saw this Ross-Simons 2.50 ct. t.w. Emerald Ring in Sterling Silver and it just stood out to me as a must-buy gift. It is so pretty! . I was a little worried about the emerald’s quality. I understood emerald would not shine like a diamond, will contain inclusions, maybe even hairline cracks, (that’s the nature of a gemstone), but it could be a fairly low-quality stone. There’s no Colored Stone Report included. So, I don't know if this is a Colombian stone or from India. My fears were put to rest after examining the stones. This is a blue-green emerald. So, definitely not the lowest quality yellow hue. Not as prized as the pure green emerald, but the green hue is noticeable under light and overall, the gemstones’ quality appears very good for the price. The cut is also not the finest, but only noticeable if you look very closely. . The sterling silver ring is solid and not thin at all. Sterling silver is made of 92.5% of pure silver and the rest (7.5%) mainly comprises copper and other trace elements. It will tarnish with time, requiring cleaning. I unfortunately did not check for a Hallmark before wrapping this gift, which would guarantee the silver content. For everyday wear, my only concern would be the small clasps on the two adjacent gemstones getting hooked on something and a stone falling out. A special occasion ring, I think. . The overall size of this piece is just right. It’s large enough to be noticed, but not to the point of being awkward to wear and gaudy looking. . I do wish the packaging was more than just a pouch and a baggie in a thin cardboard box. The beauty of this ring, at this price, deserves a padded, hinged lid, box, with a slot for the ring to sit in and present well... for that 'wow' moment when she opens it up! 😉 .
