I already bought some sage sticks in the past and for that I know it take a little bit time to lit up. So I hold this one over a candle for quite a while. But did not burn . Instead, it kind of makes crackle sound, then catch fire and release some black smoke for a few seconds then stop right away. What you have left is a bad smell of burned paper.
