By pulling the rope in one end, around the drum, and on this can handle a much greater length of pull than any common com-a-long winding a relatively shorter length of cable on a spool of limited capacity. Wish I had one of these years ago! Well made and rugged. Don't abuse it, protect the rope from sun and dirt, and this will give years of reliable service.

Build quality is good. The rope is very hard. I haven't tried to use it with a different type of rope but would assume the hard braid of the rope helps with traction of the cleats. You have to provide some tension on the free side for it to work. With no back tension, it slips. I haven't had a chance to hook it to a load cell and see how much it'll actually pull. If I get a change, I'll update the review.

this are very handy to keep around. I used it to pull the atv out the other day, and it worked great. it has a very long rope , so you have a lot of room to work with, but the downside to that is that you have to store all that rope when not being used. I recommend getting a bag to store it in.

This come-along was well built and performed okay, but when the rope is under tension it won’t release as it should. I had to use a screwdriver to pry the paw off the ratchet gear to release the tension.

Works well and extremely easy to operate. The rope it comes with is decent quality and strong. The best part is it’s easy to put another rope in it if you need a longer rope or it breaks.
