The initial layer helps to bind the next layer to it. Very easy to apply and I really like the color. It lasts as long as most other lip sticks of this type. I love these. This is the only matte lip I want to wear now! 21 is a beautiful warm natural lip, 23 is a beautiful cool natural lip. They give great even color from the first swipe. They last for hours. And my lips don't feel like the moisture has been sucked out. I highly prefer this to the liquid matte type formulas out there. Love the color but because it’s Matt it is on the drier side for me. If you got flakey lips it will show. But overall when I moisturize my lips it looks nice!

Overall, the color (ADORABLE) was nice - not quite what I was looking for though. The texture, however, was far below what I was expecting. It was dry and rather grainy. Not a fan, and not really interested in trying other colors if the formula is the same on all ROM&ND ZERO MATTE Lipsticks.
