  • Please read this if you are new to roller skates!!!!
Style: Cruze XR Size: 5
So I am new to roller skating, when I was younger I had been to a skating rink a couple of times and that is all the experience I've had. I recently saw people roller skating on instagram and it really looked fun! So I thought that I could spend my time in quarantine doing something fun and productive. I spent a bit researching about roller skating so I've learned a lot of new stuff that I think some of you might find helpful if you are new to roller skating. So when you skate outside you typically need gummi or softer wheels because they will absorb the bumps from more rougher grounds, while hard plastic wheels are for smooth grounds such as places like roller rinks. The wheels on these skates are in between so they are good for both. But if you do get into more street skating then I definently recommend getting gummi wheels. For the fit of the boot, it fits great! I'm a size 6 for womans shoes, so if you are a female I recommend getting only one size down. If you're worried about them being too wide, no worries it will fit you like a glove. That was one thing I was concerned about but it isn't a problem for me, but if it is more of a problem for you, I recommend wearing thicker or double socks so the boot fits you better. I found that these skates had really good reviews so I decided to get them, plus not to mention they look really slick and classy, and when I got them I definently wasn't disappointed. But I got these skates to start out skating and until I can get the skates that I really like, which are moxi skates. If you are starting out skating like me, I definently recommend these skates to you! They are really good and sturdy for their price and will serve you well until you get better skates. Two other popular roller skating brands are moxi roller skates and impala, which I found many people really like. So if you have a bigger budget and dont care about the wait then I say check them out. Also I recommend getting toe covers if you do not want to scratch the front of the shoe, you can find cheap ones on Amazon. Overall I say that these are really good skates and if you're beginner, these are perfect for you!! So don't hesitate to take them for a spin!! :) ... show more

  • Better than a $200 wide skate
Style: Cruze XR Size: 11
I wear a women's 11-12 wide and wanted to get back in to skating more that I'm an adult. I took the suggestion of going a size up and found that the fit is just a tad too small for my left toe. I'm currently breaking them in with the help of a hot blow dryer. I think they'll fit perfectly once they're fully broken in. If you're contemplating these skates but have a wide foot like me I asked Chat GPT for some ways to help them fit better. Breaking in roller skates that are slightly too tight can be done with a few simple techniques: 1. Wear Them Around the House: Start by wearing them indoors for short periods. Thick socks or two pairs can help stretch them slightly, molding them to your feet. 2. Use Heat: Many skate boots, especially leather ones, respond well to gentle heating. Use a hairdryer on a low setting to warm the tight areas for a couple of minutes, then wear the skates while they’re still warm. Move around to encourage them to conform to your foot shape. 3. Freeze Bag Trick: Fill plastic bags with water, seal them tightly, and place them inside the boots, focusing on the tight areas. Put the skates in the freezer overnight. As the water freezes, it expands, gently stretching the boot. 4. Use a Shoe Stretcher: Many sporting goods stores or online retailers offer shoe stretchers that can help gently widen the boots. Some shoe stretchers even allow you to target specific pressure points. 5. Roller Skate Gel Inserts: Adding thin gel inserts can provide more comfort and adjust any pinching in the toe or heel areas. 6. Break Them in Gradually: Skating for short intervals will allow the skates to mold to your feet over time without causing blisters or discomfort. ... show more

  • Fair price for fair quality, good options for entry level skater
Style: Cruze XR Size: 4
So far so good. My son has begun skate classes and is looking to move on to artistic skating. I’m hesitant to buy $200 skates this soon, but he had money saved so we agreed to these. He’s been doing well in them and they are true to size. He was happy that he could afford these on his own and it makes him fell more responsible for his choose to skate :) I think it’s fair to say that you get what you pay for with these. 1) The tongues are not an even height (shorter on the right foot) 2) the upper material isn’t very pliable (so wear double socks while breaking them in or you’ll get blisters) 3) laces are SUPER long (skate booties help) 4) he complained the brake was too low to the floor, BUT that’s because he’s only ever used rental skates with super worn down breaks Over all, performance is good and skates appear durable for our needs. ... show more

  • Comfy after they're broken in, terrible toe stops
Style: Cruze XR Size: 5
These are a great value for the money. I already had my own outdoor wheels so I took off the white ones that came with them, so I can't give them a proper review. They were pretty uncomfortable the first time I wore them, but they warmed up and formed to my foot well and feel comfy now. I wish these came in half sizes, I usually wear a 7.5 but I had to get the men's equivalent to a women's size 7. They're true to size and are a tiny bit small, but weren't too bad after I broke them in after a few wears and I'd much rather have that than a size 8 flopping around on my foot. The toe stops may be good for rink use, but as outdoor stops, they are AWFUL. I skate ramps and stuff in them and after one day of use, they were already ground halfway down. By the 3rd wear, I was scraping metal. If you're planning on stopping on anything outside of a rink, you will absolutely need to invest in new stops meant for outdoor use. Overall these aren't great, but not the perfect skates. I bought them since Riedell would be sold out of my size until August and I don't feel like I got a bad product, but as they say with everything, you get what you pay for. ... show more
