  • The result is beautiful
Firstly, it is made of wood! Except for the floor and some of the staircase parts. Therefore, I created a wooden floor with wooden veneers. This kit has a nice amount of 3d items. I also used some of my own, so some of the items in the uploaded images are not in the original kit. Sorry, I didn't like the blue drawer cabinet, so I improvised something else. I didn't use all of the paper flowers and hanging flowers because, personally I don't like clutter. The instructions for the wiring is not 100% clear, so for those who may be confused, you have to stick all the black wires together and do the same for the red ones. They must not be joined together. Put in the batteries, switch it on and then touch the switch in the front. The lights should come on. Some of the parts do not join together easily, so take your time and be patient. The finished kit makes a beautiful and calming scene; I love it. ... show more

  • Updated: No more missing piece
2nd update: Received the missing piece in the mail today! I was able to finish the model to completion! Super thrilled! I think I'm more happy about getting the missing piece than another kit. Updated: The company reached out and was super nice about it and sent a whole new replacement~ I normally don't write reviews but there was no other way of contacting the company. I love diy kits and rolife is usually meticulous with their packaging. However, I am mid-build on this item and I'm missing a piece that basically stops the whole process. I'm not surprised as there were some pieces that slipped off the moment I lifted the wooden card. I checked everywhere and I can't find it and its a fairly large sized piece. I wish there was a way of contacting the company in regards to getting the missing piece rather than having to reorder the whole item. ... show more

  • Buy it!
It’s moderately hard! Just pay attention to the instructions, you’ll be fine. I had so much fun building it and it looks great in my plant room!!

  • Fun, but missing piece
I had such a great time with this product. The only issue is that the opening window (piece I12) was missing. I could still finish, but it would be perfect with all of the pieces!

  • Cute little model
TL;DR Fun, but quite a bit of work, especially if, like me, you’re not used to doing these. — This is so cute! I’m not a puzzle enthusiast, since I don’t usually have the attention span to finish anything more than 500 pieces. This is more like model-building. I’ve been telling my friends this is like recreational Ikea. First night, I spent about 2 hours on this and got to stage 5. It took me another 4-ish hours to complete. The pieces are laser-cut, so everything is very precise and fits are tight. Some are very delicate (I accidentally broke an adjacent piece to what I was trying to remove, but luckily, it was a spare). A lot are teeeensy or large and very delicate (especially in the second half of the build where you’re putting in the sides with windows). I found that it was helpful to also have the following on hand: an Xacto knife to separate the pieces (I usually would just insert the blade in the space where the join is and twist to break it) or cut off little hangers-on, a toothpick (to clean off excess glue), and maybe tweezers (some of those stickers are SMALL!). There’s a point at which you need to cut some plastic tubing, so my Xacto came in handy for that, even though the illustration showed scissors. If you don’t use any tools and just push the pieces out of their wooden “sheets,” you’ll likely leave a small piece behind on some parts (the aforementioned hangers-on). Not usually a big deal, but occasionally, it might be noticeable (e.g., if the top layer is a different color than the layers underneath and chips off). It was fun to put together, though there were points in the instructions where I laughed out loud because at first glance, I had no idea what the heck I was supposed to be doing, but I figured it out in the end. There are quite a number of spare pieces, in case you break something (especially for the things that bend) or lose a small part. The result is pretty, but if you’re bothered by details not quite making sense (the rocking chair is HUGE in the scale of the book nook and the stairs are completely non-accessible because of all the stuff in front of it), this may not be for you. I’m probably just nuts for noticing. A few things that didn’t go together as perfectly as everything else: the illustration for the wiring on the bottom of the model was a little confusing, not least because one of the wires (the one for the overhead light) wasn’t quite long enough to make it through to where it was supposed to be. There are also a few pieces that need to be glued down or it’ll be raining teensy parts when you start flipping the little house this way and that for the final assembly. You have to have a steady hand and patience to put this together. Trying to do it quickly will probably end badly. And definitely don’t try to do this all in one or two sittings. ... show more

  • LED not working but the item looks great!
For whatever reason the LED connection isn't working for me, but I've ordered a new LED light set so it should be okay once that arrives. Other than that, the garden house was fun to put together, looks cute, and should look good on my bookshelf. I'll add a pic once the LEd replacement lights arrive. ... show more

  • Fairly Easy
I was initially intimidated by this book nook because it was mostly transparent, but I shouldn't have been. Of the three I have completed, this one has been the easiest by far. Everything you need is included, even the glue (though I used super glue instead). The instructions could have been a little clearer. For example. one of the lightbulbs did not make it into the finished product because I missed the part of the instructions where it needed to be added. By the time I realized this, it was too late to go back at add it because it would have required taking the whole thing apart. I also was not a fan of the card stock pieces. They did not want to stay in place (just the small pieces that are attached to the bigger ones). Overall though, I am pleased with how it turned out. ... show more

  • Great nook kit, good quality components, clear directions
This is my second nook kit - after the first, I am now a big fan! I am about half way through with this kit, and am enjoying it. Good quality - sturdy components, board cuts are clean/sharp (easy to remove), everything is clearly and correctly labeled, and assembly instructions are clear and concise (mainly diagrams). I like that some components are not wood board (a pillow, the chair back, plant, etc.), which will make the finished product more real and 3D. I also like that the glue is in a pen - rather than a bottle - which is much easier to hold and use. Great for a family project (with older kids) on a snow-bound day. TIP: punch out the components from the boards as you use them; if you do it all at once, it’s hard to figure out what reference number each one is. This is a long, multi-hour (maybe multi-day) project - make it easier on yourself! ... show more
