  • Worth the money. 3 days in and I'm having a blast!
Style: TD-17KV-S
The drum set is nice and compact and fit perfectly in an empty corner of my room. The sounds that come with TD-17 module sound good as is, which I wasn't expecting right out of the box. I planned on buying EZdrummer 3 because i wasn't expecting anything to sound great immediately, but I was pleasantly surprised. I will still purchase the software, but not right away.. Maybe in a few months after I get the hang of actual drumming. The set up was mostly straightforward but with a bit of confusion every now and then. This can easily be remedied by supplementing the instruction with images of a fully assembled kit on the Roland website. Also an important note (for some): The pads and the drum stand were delivered separately. The same tracking # was used for both. Both delivered by Amazon not any other courier. I initially received the pads and module in one box that was delivered by an Amazon courier that specializes in shipping oversized and heavy items.. The stand was delivered by the standard courier Amazon uses to deliver all other packages and was left in a secure spot in the lobby of my building with all the other packages ordered by my neighbors.. just as usual. ... show more

  • Please help me Roland
Style: TD-17KV-S
The drums were great in the time I had them but I've been without them for so long, I don't know anymore. Over the Easter weekend, all three cymbals were stuck on a choked sound. Resetting the unit did not help. Sent them in just a few days later and haven't seen them since. Called the local repair place and they swear they ordered an electronics board for the brains, but they cannot confirm with anyone from Roland parts organization that it is indeed on order. The authorized repair place has been trying to get in contact with someone from Roland parts for a week now and they are getting total silence. I too sent a message to Rolands parts/repair asking if they could just replace the whole electronics module if it was going to take a long time to fix. That was on May 6th and the last time anyone has heard from them. It seems that Rolands main repair place was in the middle of a move and would be under a black out for a week or two during their transition.. That was a month ago with still no confirmation anything is on order. This has been a nightmare. I ordered the drums as therapy because of a difficult divorce but all they've done is make me realize how insignificant I am to do anything about it. It's coming up on two months Ive been without the drums and I think that is too long for an in-warranty product that I paid good money for. I paid good money to have something reliable, but it just wasn't in the cards for me this time I guess......wish me better luck on my next investment. The drums sounded good as I recall which is why I'm giving two stars. But given the issues I've had with a broken...(or non-existent)..... repair organization, I recommend you buy two full drum sets from a lower cost competitor of Roland and just keep one set in the closet for when you have to replace parts. This has been the most dismal repair situation (incl cars, boats, etc) I've ever gone through in my 54 years walking this crust. Don't follow me down the same path. ***Update June 22nd*** Still no word on where my drums are in the process....if there "IS" a process. Two entire months have elapsed. I'm so sad. ... show more

  • Solid Set - Great Purchase
Style: TD-17KVX-S
I only have a few hours on the throne since I purchased the set this week. The set I purchased was the TD-17KVX-S. There seems to be continual confusion on what is included and what you need to purchase to make this set completely operational. Quick Observations.... WHAT YOU NEED TO SUPPLY/PURCHASE IN ADDITION TO THE ACTUAL TD-17KVX-S SET: -A kick pedal -A hi-hat stand -A Throne -Either Headphones or a monitor (if using a monitor you need the cable to connect it) -Drum sticks The set arrived in two boxes, a smaller one with the stand and a large one with everything else. Give yourself at least two-to three hours for the initial set up and adjustments The stand came with instructions, but I found other videos that review sets and include in the title "Unboxing and Set-up" were helpful to view prior to set-up. The kit itself comes with multiple set-up guides, each set comes in multiple languages so you will need to root around to find the instruction set that applies to what you are doing and in the correct language. Don't panic when the snare appears to be missing the hardware, it is different than all the other pads and the hardware is in one of the numerous plastic bags you tossed to the side It's an awesome set. Great response, great feel, extremely versatile. I am a wanna-be drummer, in my early 60's, who took his first lesson in the early 70's. I am very glad I didn't purchase anything less (eg. TD-11, or anything higher (i.e. the TD-50). This will take me to my grave. Not that its gonna kill me, but it will do everything I need it to and more. The set actually came from Total Music Source and was delivered promptly. ... show more

  • Everything I can ask for in an electric drum kit
Style: TD-17KVX-S
I have had this drum set for almost a month since leaving this review and logged a little over 30 hours of play-time. So far this set feels really well built and has an excellent response time. The kick stand is easily compatible with a double-bass pedal. The sounds the module provides are easily customizable from muffling to up/down tuning to get the sound you desire (you can upload your own sounds too). There are 50 preset kits as well as 50 custom user kits that you can choose from. The only issue I found with this set is that you need to hit the ride-bell a little hard to activate the ride-bell sound. After some research, I found that this is normal for the CY-13R. Be aware that this set does not have a kick pedal, hihat stand, or a throne. So be prepared to spend a little more money if you don't have those components. Roland has outdid themselves with the TD-17 series electric drum kits. If you are looking for a high-end budget drum set, I would certainly recommend this kit. ... show more
