  • Roland Got It Right
Style: AE-10
I took the plunge, being a keyboardist and saxophonist I've been hooked on wind controllers for some time. I've owned a Casio DH-100, 2 Yamaha WX5 and a Akai EWI 4000s. The Roland AE-10 is like the perfect mixture of the EWI 4000s and the Yamaha WX5. I love the fact that the WX5 had a reed mouthpiece unlike the mouthpiece for the EWI 4000s and I like the onboard sounds on the EWI 4000s unlike the Yamaha WX5 which requires a sound module. The Roland AE-10 with real keys not sensors, two onboard speakers actually gives you a closer feel of a real saxophone. It also provide you with a variety awesome realistic tones an a variety of synth sounds, all in which can be edited, saved and stored in the instrument. I used it a coupe of days after purchasing on a gig.Paired with a wireless instrument system, I blew the audience away with the variety of sounds. It does look like a toy but it is a serious contender in the Wind Controller field. Roland did their homework and came up with a winner. Great LED viewing screen to access programs, good job Roland ... show more

  • Preferred over newer ae30
Style: Aerophone AE-10G
I had the AE10 for a couple years and loved it. I got excited with the release of the AE30 pro and got that model. Although it has great new features, it wasn’t ergonomically good for me. My right hand would constantly hit the side keys and disrupt my passes, the F# would not play when my hand was touching the side keys even slightly. SO… I bought the AE10 again. Love it. ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted
Style: AE-10
I'll be honest: I'm surprised I like this so much. As a 10-year sax player living in a studio apartment, I was missing the ability to play my horn whenever I wanted. Mutes are heavy and spacious -- and at the end of the day not the experience I wanted. The Aerophone's sax-emulation with headphones is magical. I use the tenor sound, but you may choose between Alto, baritone, soprano, and an assortment of other instruments. I find it satisfies my desire to maintain practice while also allowing my partner to read or watch a video next to me. When I'm not using it, it just sits in the case that it comes with. Note that you'll need a headphone-jack size converter for the audio-output if you want to use your everyday headphones. Check out the description for the specifics. ... show more

  • Great all-in-one wind synth but only if you aren't already using something similiar.
Style: AE-10
I wanted to like this instrument badly; It had all the features that I was looking for when wanting to replace my current wind synth, a Yamaha WX5. It has great key responsiveness, audio output, built-in sounds and USB connectivity. Ultimately though the sounds weren't any better than my Yamaha VLm-70 (mated to the wx5), and that is what I really wanted. If this had been my first wind synth, it would have been a no-brainer but I decided to stay with my wx5 and add soft-synth sounds instead for more flexibility. ... show more

  • Sounds really good
Style: Aerophone AE-10G
After two weeks I upgraded from the Aerophone Mini. The Ae-10 is so much better and although it's a little complicated at first the way it plays is awesome. There are a lot a variables to manage but they are there to make the sound as realistic as possible. It won't replace a real sax but it won't drive your neighbors crazy either. I'm glad I bought it. ... show more

  • Five stars
Style: AE-10
Great practice tool for when I can't be loud. Also a lot of fun through the PA with all the effects it has. Easy to use, seems to be made very well.
