I have found these chukka boots to be excellent in every way but one. They are quite comfortable right out of the box. The size runs a little large, I had to go to a half size smaller than I usually wear, and this size has plenty of room. I might have gone a full size smaller but didn't want to chance them being too small. The are very quiet, making almost no sound on wood or concrete floors. The soles seem to have a good grip without being so aggressive as to pick up small pebbles like some boots do. I felt it necessary to reduce the score by one star because of the finger loop on the rear of the boot top. The finger loop is there as an aid for getting your heel into the boot easily. The loop on these boots are far too small to get a finger into, even my little finger, and my fingers are not large by any means. I find this to be very frustrating every time I put them on. The manufacturer needs to realize that that little loop is not just there for decoration. Because of this, I will probably not be buying this model again.

Bought these to wear to work especially on cold and rainy days. Comfortable and light enough to wear all day yet very supportive sole and definitely waterproof. You can't go wrong with these Rockport boots !

1. Pay attention to whom you get these shoes from, because price and shipping can vary greatly! Some sizes will ship as "Prime", other as "free shipping included", and still others as no free shipping at all. I got these boot (size 9 3E, brown) for $98 a couple of weeks ago. When I first clicked on the list of boot options, I saw the Prime logo! I then saw it said "free shipping included". That past was true, but when I wanted to return the boots (see why below), shipping to return was on me! I found out these shipped from a store in Chicago called "Heart & Sole". I called to see about free return shipping, but the guy said sorry - did you read the shipping policy? Ah no -- does anyone? And besides it is very generic on not specific to any one retailer. You think I will ever order a product from them again? Amazing... All the guy had to do was to say "I know the online information is confusing, let me pick up the return shipping" - and he would have had a return customer in the future. Not anymore! The guy certainly doesn't know how to keep a good Amazon business going! 2. The boots, as another reviewer said, runs large in the toes area, and actually a bit small (but ok) in the heel. The insoles are not well padded as I remember Rockports use to be (when they were made in the US?). After walking around the house for 5 minutes may heel began to get feel it! That was why I was going to return these. They look great, and for our mild So. California "winters" they should hold up. 3. Conclusion: Because returning them seems to be more trouble than it's worth, I plan to keep them and just either ware them with thick socks and/or get a cushy insole insert. But no more Rockports, and no more of this retailer!

Rockport comes through again for me. I wear size 13, wide, preferably extra wide. Going to a store to purchase shoes is a drag because they never have my size and, they can order it, but only if I can get the minimum wage guy to figure out how. Online ordering is a Godsend, especially from Amazon with its two day shipping, free return policy but Rockport does its part by making quality stuff that is always the correct size. I know my size, I order some random Rockport I life, in my size (which they have...no hassle) and two days later shoes come that fit perfectly. I only once had a problem with Rockports. I ordered steel toed shoes from SEARS in a shoe I already own, non-steel toe. They insert the toe lining into the shoe and base the size on the show. Problem is, this lining is solid steel. Unlike leather, it's not going to give....ever. Sears gave me a hassle rather than a refund....even though it was their job to explain stuff like that to me as I'm their measuring my foot for that purpose. If you need steel toe, order at least one size higher and probably an extra size wide to accommodate the insert. And buy it from Amazon. Worst case scenario, you can return it hassle free for the correct size.

Love the look of this boot. Was looking g fir something that could be worn with jean and a button down shirt. Sporty look be very very casual. The fit is great. Even though boot hasn't been worn and only tried on but fit, feel and look is great! I originally ordered the wide about 3 or 4 months ago thinking whats the big deal. I had to because the regular M was out. I thought how big if a difference could there be in a W vs M. Big difference. I had to take it back the next day. Boot has really been on my mind to order again. Happy I ordered when I got my boot in. No creases from sitting in the box and no leather scratches. Very happy
