This affordable well-made shoe seems to last forever. The shoe strings, last a few months! They are waterproof and good for daily use anywhere, and for hiking or outdoor activities. Mine last until I sink ankle deep in spring mud and even then they clean up well. You'll need replacement shoe laces which are hard to find in the right length and diameter. The durability of these shoes outshines the vast majority of footwear available. I wear them for work, and as a teacher, I'm on my feet most of the day. I have walked many, many miles in them throughout my travels as well. This is my third pair over the last 15 years. They last a loooong time with regular waxing and care. The dye seems to have penetrated into the leather, making normal wear and tear and scuffing less noticeable than with any other brand of shoes I have owned. They are adequately waterproof for heavy rain, if you avoid deep pools. They are a matte finish, rather than glossy, which is one of the main reasons I like them.
