Rockport has always made a good quality shoe. I purchased a 12 Wide because I have a wide foot. The toe box fit perfectly but the heel is a little too loose. The shoe overall is very comfortable. My only complaint is that when I received the shoe, there was cat or dog hair in it. It appeared that I received a pair of shoes that was someone else's return. I was not happy about it at all. Obviously someone had bought it, worn it around and then decided to return it. I would have immediately returned it, however I am in a bind and have a formal event to go to and have no other shoe alternative so I have to wear these. There is not enough time for me to order new ones. All of the local stored do not have my size in a similar shoe. If I had more time, I would have definitely returnedbor exchanged them. My complaint isn't with the quality of the shoe itself, its with the fact that I got someone's return. ... show more

I have a job where I work long hours on my feet and am required to wear a dress shoe. I've been wearing Rockport dress shoes for about twenty years. This is their most comfortable model. This is my sixth pair (my work is very rough on shoes, if I bought these for normal wear, I'm sure If still have my original pair). I like the way they look bit that is subjective. As noted by other reviewers, these shoes are extremely comfortable right out of the box, unlike most dress shoes at both higher and lower price points. The most unexpectedly wonderful problem was that the extra-wide I ordered was in fact a bit too big, a first for me in many years of buying shoes both in the US and elsewhere. I returned the pair and got a replacement in standard wide size - it fit perfectly. Since I am on the heavier side and tend to wear out shoe soles long before the uppers even on cheap shoes, I cannot testify to the durability of the soles yet, but other reviewers have noted that even if the soles are not particularly durable, the value for the price, especially when considering the comfort and good look of these shoes, make them a very attractive option. ... show more

    • Good shoes, using as "last resort" to replace now unavailable Red Wings.

My favorite black Red Wings are no longer made, so I had to find something to replace them for work. These seem to be sturdy shoes. I can tell you I had to "add 1/2 of a size" to my old Red Wing size to these to get them to fit, so they must run smaller. I had to send my first pair purchased back and reorder 1/2 size larger. Those shoes fit nice. The insoles are a bit hard feeling to me comparted to my R/W's, but I can throw some padded liners in them. I'm satisfied with these shoes as "less than $100" type shoes. The one negative I can mention is I don't know WHY Rockports always do this to me, but it always feels like there is a "hump" just it the front of the ball of my foot at the base of my toes on the floor of the shoe. After a couple weeks I may have "adjusted" to it or maybe I've pressed it down a bit, and I can deal with it I think. Bottom line this shoe is one of the only "understated and sensible looking" oxford work shoes you can find on the market and I'm happy with it. ... show more
