I bought this to help with the string ring since I'm still working on playing cleaner, and it was super easy to move it to whatever angle I needed. Heavy on the strings to mute most everything to allowing a slight ring, I'm very happy with it as a beginner.

I'm not a musician, but when I had the opportunity to try these out I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Its a simple strap, yet works. In the picture I have this above the nut and there was a difference in tone. I did try moving it below the nut to see what the effect is, and I can see why you would want to use these in a studio to stop the sympathetic strings from ringing.
