I live in the UK so I was unable to help my friend in the USA with his ride on lawnmower servicing and repair needs. So I had this shipped to him. He was really getting stung and for mega $'s by the local repair shop too. He tells me that this little book, albeit aimed and geared at all generic 'like for like' models, helped him save his hard earned monies for something else he wanted to spend them on. Belt feeds etc., and engines on your mower? 9/10 are virtually made by the same manufacturer just stamped with the maker of your mowers details on them anyways! Just like car parts are..... This book **will** save you monies. Fixing this machines is not rocket science with that being feasible with a very basic mechanics tool git a huge junk of common sense and some very savvy safety sense when working on your own unit. ALWAYS take photos before you take anything to bits - you then have a point of reference ;@) Always remove all petrol and drain the carburetor by running the engine until it cuts out and then remove the battery if it has one. Always remove the spark plug and tape back the HT lead away from the cylinder head. This means the engine cannot start - period! Before you do anything service or cleansing wise, ensure the key is removed from the ignition the throttle is firmly in the STOP position ensuring this unit cannot be started unintentionally whilst you are working on it at any time - that engine just fires over once as you clean repair it etc.,and the chances are you are going to the emergency room. The blade - a knife is only as good as its edge - the same goes for your mower blade too. ... show more

worth the investment for someone wanting the basics on small lawn mower repairs. wished there was more models covered, but it is pretty self explanatory for fixing other models, since there isnt many engine makers!

I bought this book by mistake thinking that it covered my Ford LGT18 lawn and garden tractor. Wrong - it does not cover any tractor. It only covers small, mid/rear engined riders. Looks to be a faily detailed book if you have one of these.
