  • A little disappointed..
Size: pink-500
The media could not be loaded. I didn't receive the USB charger as described, and the select button doesn't work. Good thing the start button helps to play. It's also not really a pink color, but more of an orange/pink sorbet. Mostly orange.

  • Fun! Decent buttons.
Size: green-500
I reviewed a very similar game system not too long ago, one emblazoned with Sup in an imitation of the Supreme branding. This is about the same thing, but a different ROM collection. However, I'm keen on this handheld. People are saying it has terrible build quality. Correct. The list of games features a lot of oddly named repeats and it's hard to find what you're looking for. The sound is tinny, and the screen has an odd contrast that makes it hard to look at and throws the color off. However, unlike the "Sup" model I saw earlier, this is being offered at the right price. For around the price of a couple gallons of gas, this thing really delivers. Need a game console you can throw in your bag and not worry about? This is it. Want something small and lightweight to have in your nightstand when you're in bed but don't feel like sleeping yet? Here you go. Have a youngin' that likes gaming but you don't want to spend hundreds on a modern handheld, at least not yet? They'll have some fun with this thing. While it isn't great, it is a lot of fun for the money. I like it's goofy rendition of Angry Birds. I wish the copy of Ninja Gaiden III didn't try so hard to evade copyrights. Mario 3 runs a little chuggy, but it's there. And there are so many games I haven't heard of! If you don't find anything wrong with cheap fun, go for it. If you have discerning tastes and a big budget, you're going to be happier with something else. ... show more

  • 8-Bit fun for hours
Size: green-500
Ok, this little machine from China is $16. And if you enjoy totally retro gaming it is worth twice the price. It comes in a buncha pastel colors. It is light as a feather. It comes with an AV cord and second controller so you can play the games with a friend. I looks like a gameboy...and plays like one too. Are many (MANY) of the games knock-offs, chinese-cheapies, and duplicates? Yes. Is the text on multiple games still in Chinese even after you select "english" at the first prompt? Yes. Is there no real documentation? Sadly, there is none. Is there a game list to make it east to pick the ones that aren't horrible? No, sadly there is not. But there are 500 games and 50 of them are close enough to the originals that if you LIKE 8-bit gaming...you will love this little machine. There is Super Mario Brothers, Super Mario Brothers 3, Dr Mario, Tetris, Donkey Kong, Arkanoid, Dig Dug, Galaga, Galaxian, Pac Man, Joust, Millipede...and several of those licensed games that were pretty awful--but fun enough for a moment like Goonies, Tiny Toons, Care Bears and others...plus 16+ "Mario" games that are hysterically bad. And you can plug it into your TV or monitor and play on the big screen...it's loads of fun if this is your thing. It will take you months just to explore all the old favorites, cheap knock offs, and out right weirdness. ... show more

  • A Lot to Like, But Let Me Down
Size: blue-500
Oh the nostalgia! I love that there are so many games from my childhood on this little console. It even pauses unlike some of the old 80's games. There is a lot to like about this little handheld. However, the build quality is low and the buttons don't quite function the way they should rendering some of the games almost impossible to enjoy. For example, Super Mario Bros. looks really good and plays well until you want to jump onto the higher blacks. There's no way to get the first mushroom. There's not running jump allowed in the game. Some of the simpler games are fine such as Galaga but don't look to get too far in some of the others. Overall it's a mini handheld that'll help pass the time. It's a good choice if you're trying to get a fix at a low price point but you get what you pay for. Not all bad but not all good here. I would only recommend if you're not looking for something too serious. Otherwise, there are better retro gaming options. ... show more

  • Retro throwback
Size: blue-500
This is exactly what you find when you check Youtube for "500 in 1" the games are repeats and tons of things Ive never heard of or seen. I grew up in the 80's and 90's so that has to count for something. The build quality is terrible. The plastic is cheap, the unit is lightweight. The redeeming thing though is the screen. It's quite bright and easy to see. The screen protector takes the patience of a saint to remove. You will want to remove it as it's a slightly blurry effect. The other thing w/ the screen is when I powered it on for the first time I noticed a white line appear to the side of the screen. This was the backlight! I tapped the unit lightly on the side the backlight was showing through and the screen slid into place. On the flipside this is a pretty cool device to have to take a trip down memory lane. Will also come in handy in power outages, since I live in FL and it's hurricane season around here. I feel the price needs to come down a bit from $18 to make this worth suggesting to people. I got mine for free to review so there is that. Might be worth picking up to keep kids busy on a trip if they are too young for a phone/tablet. ... show more

  • A Cute bit of Nostalgia
This is a fun little handheld controller with a lot of the old video games I remember from when I was a kid. That part I love. But just like some of the other reviews said, the build quality has some flaws. The games are hard to scroll through or search. It comes with a controller that didn't work for my model (although I can still use it in handheld mode). The buttons are a bit mushy. But if you're just looking for a lot of fun old games and have your expectations appropriately set, it is a lot of fun. ... show more
