  • Excellent Camera
Great picture, easy to use. Sturdy and seems well made

  • Works great with Blue Iris now (Reolink RLC-823A 5X)
Great picture quality in day time, night vision very good but smudged for moving objects. I was having latency / ptz / tracking issues with Blue Iris with the latest firmware on Reolink's web site. Emailed support, got a response within 8 or so hours with a link to a newer firmware (IPC_523128M8MP.2109_23051512.RLC-823A.IMX415.8MP.PTZ.REOLINK.pak). Most problems gone! Works SO much better. Latency GREATLY reduced, auto tracking works very well now (although it seems to only work horizontally). Blue Iris's PTZ MUCH improved! I'm very happy with the camera!. Blue Iris with an old 4th Gen I7 HP SFF, stock Video has 18 various cams at 12 to 50 % total cpu usage (depending how I push various features such as 4MP vs 2 MP display on UI3's display). Perfect ? Nope. REALLY good? Yes! The problems I had with my other Reolink camera (POE Trackmix) were duplicated on RLC-823A 5X (though the RLC-823A POE madly swung around to every preset even with monitor mode turned off. THIS bug was neatly fixed with the not generally released firmware above. I must say, the auto-focus also works much faster now tracking REALLY a pleasure to work with). 18 cams currently displayed with Blue Iris, cpu usage only at 20 % (13 wired, 8 wifi). Love it! Takes about 7 Seconds to move from zoomed out monitor point to fully zoomed in on another chair and focus correctly at 5X zoom, at night. I have spent time fine tuning the cameras and blue iris (ver 5.x), but with such low resultant cpu usage I'm completely happy! ... show more

  • A Great Camera
This is a great camera. I installed it under a second floor roof overhang where it gets a 270 degree view. It's at my weekend ranch house so I thought I would use it to look out for trespassers while I'm stuck in the city. It's great for the intended purpose. I have it set to send me an email and an image if it detects a vehicle. Turns out its great for watching wildlife as well. I set it up to do a patrol that does a wide view that pans slowly cross it's entire field of view so I can see what the weather is doing. It then pans down and goes in a little tighter and does another slow pan. Next it zooms in tight and pans to a a few key spots and lingers on each for a while. Running and watching the patrol has become part of my morning routine. The possibilities are unlimited, mostly. I keep it set at it's "Balanced" video setting. It's a little grainy but the video feed is smooth on my limited bandwidth. You can do a HI-RES playback if something happens that you want to seen in sharper detail. The largest SD card will hold almost a weeks worth of recordings. The uploaded image is a screen shot from a video clip of a couple of Axis Deer fighting over the water trough. A little dry this year. They are about 70 yards from the camera and this image is cropped pretty tight but is relatively clear. In addition to the 5x optical zoom it is possible to zoom in tighter when playing back recorded clips. My only complaint would be that it doesn't have more optical zoom and that when manually panning it moves pretty quick and sometimes overshoots the intended target. I have a couple of inexpensive cameras that cover the porches and areas I can't see with this one. I'm very happy with this one, I may get another one for the opposite corner of the house. ... show more

  • In general it is a good product with few things that need to be improved.
So far. Excellent solar panel that keeps a camera always 100 % charged. Motion detection doesn't pick up targets on sides well and in front limited to somewhere around 25 - 30 ft which is annoying. My old system ( 7 - 8 years old ) still detecting motion around 60 ft. There are some glitch in connecting to camera while opening notifications of movement. ... show more

  • Great support, easy setup, great features
The media could not be loaded. started purchasing security cameras early and got on the bleeding edge of technology. I have purchased cameras for over twice the price of the Reolink RLC-823A that were not half as good. Other brands may have caught up with Reolink in some areas, but for my needs the Reolink cameras are the best. Support is excellent via email. The app for Mac, Windows, and smart phone is easy setup and the best I have seen. I have tried 18 cameras, and the last 4 have been Reolink. The 823-A lets you tell it to send alerts for motion, person, vehicle, or pets in any combination. Motion will drive you crazy outdoors; I use person and vehicle. The camera auto tracks people and vehicles. You can set a monitor zone which the camera will automatically return to after an adjustable interval. There are too many other features to list. In the video attached, I manually sounded the alarm when the man asked for cutters. Later I told them they were driving on a closed road, and they loaded up and left in 30 seconds. Not sure if Amazon will send the 1040 video that I uploaded, but the camera saves both high resolution and low resolution. There are no cloud storage fees as the camera uses up to a 256 gb SD card, and multiple users can login to the camera to control it and live view at the same time. The SD card is perfect for me and looks like it may last 2 years before it starts over writing the older stuff. If you need cloud-like backup just get a Reolink NVR. ... show more
