  • Bad software
Great hardware but no point if the software is unreliable Please read so you don't spend days laying Ethernet only to be disappointed by the poor Reolink software. There are issues with push notifications not coming, bad user design, and no warning if a camera goes down. Push notifications I depended on Reolink to alert me in the event of motion. It turns out they are not at all dependable. After four days of proper operation, the app stopped sending notifications. I tested by walking in front and observing consistently that the footage was captured on disk, but no notification was sent. Everything was set correctly, yet no notifications came. I am not a security guard watching the cameras all day. I need notifications when I indicate that they should be sent. Avoid Reolink because their undependable notifications will put you at risk. Poor user design Admins can create accounts for standard (non-admin) users to access the NVR in a safe fashion. Say I want to allow a standard user to receive push notifications, such as a detected motion event. Sounds easy, right? Reolink NVRs cannot even do this simple task. Their customer service says the only way is to let other people login with the admin account in order to enable push notifications. This has been a problem for over two years now, and I doubt they are even working on a fix. Look up "reolink push notifications operation failed". That is right: if you attempt to activate push notifications as a standard user, you get a nice error message stating "operation failed" which is how it has been since 2021. Avoid Reolink because they want you to share your NVR by letting other people login with the admin account. No Video Loss Warning If one of your cameras is disabled, there is no way to get notified of this. You will find out eventually when you check the feeds and have no idea when it went down. ... show more

  • Excellent image quality with sharpest details among the security cameras I own
This camera came with the camera unit, Ethernet cable and mounting Hardwares. No longer included is installation like screwdriver that used to be included in the past products. The camera body is made of metal weighs over 13oz, its very sturdy. There is a Micro SD slot covered by screwed cover plate. The position of the Micro SD slot is a bit awkward to access. Since this is a POE camera, setup is straightforward, especially if you own other Reolink cameras before. If this is your first Reolink camera, you need to download the app, register, connect the camera to a POE port, add the camera to the app by scan the QR code on the camera or on the box. If you don't have a POE router or switch, you can connect this camera to regular none POE port with a not included but common 12V security camera adapter. Like most of the Reolink none battery operated cameras, this camera is also RTSP and ONVIF compatible, also like the other Reolink cameras however, these compatibilities are off by default and you cannot turn it on by using the app, but rather need to first find out the IP address of the camera from the app or router and then access the camera settings via web browser, go the advanced network settings to ports to turn it on. Reolink could have made them on by default to save the hassle. But at least it does offers RTSP and ONVIF compatibilities to easily integrate it to existing NVR/NAS systems. I have test it with tinyCam app and QNAP NAS without problems. The RTSP and ONVIF compatibilities are not the only functions that are not available to the app. Despite the smartphone app has seen improvements over the years, there still are many functions not available in the app that require using the browser. For example, the browser offers more control over IR and spotlights than the app. When it comes to image quality, this is my first 12M security camera and it has the sharpest image details that is clearly visible without the need to pixel peeping to see it. Since it uses H.265 compression, the bandwidth it needs even at highest quality settings is not much higher than a 5M camera using H.264 compression. By default, the camera will switch to IR and B&W mode at night or dark. You can change it to color mode at all time, but without adequate light, but unless the area you want to cover is well lighted at the night, the color image is too dark to be useful. You can also choose to turn on the white spotlights on schedule by using to the browser to set it up. With the spotlights on or the area has enough lights at night, the nigh color is pretty good and probably better than B&W to identify person or objects. It can also be setup to turn on the spotlights when it detects motion, but like others in the similar situation, when sudden light changes and the camera is switching from B&W to color mode, there is a brief flash blinding moment that may causes miss recording important moments. While I wish the app can control all the advanced functions, I have yet to find one camera maker offers that. Overall, this is an excellent POE security camera that is easy to setup and offers excellent image quality. ... show more

  • A Hit from Reolink
With excellent image quality, great night vision, and good motion detection, this 12 megapixel camera is a great offering from Reolink! I have a handful of 5MP cameras of theirs and really like them, but this blows their quality away. The spotlight feature is really nice as well, illuminating a large area around the camera. The cost is a bit high, but for a high-quality 12 megapixel camera, you get what you pay for. This is good enough to read text on a printed page at about 15 feet away, which I was barely able to do with another camera I tested that had 12MP as a spec. This is definitely quality! I added it to Synology Surveillance Station with little effort. With some Reolink cameras, you have to go into the camera settings and enable ONVIF, but once done, the camera works flawlessly with SS. Great camera! ... show more

  • High Quality & Durable Camera
Camera works fantastic with my Reolink POE switch, I put a 128GB Micro SD card in the camera (it's a little tricky getting to the card slot but it has a solid and secure cover over the slot) and the image quality is awesome, images really sparkle on my 4K monitor. This camera is definitely well worth the price and will serve you well. ... show more

  • Best Value for Money
Me and my husband got this camera to add more coverage to our current Reolink setup. We already had a Reolink DVR that we used to hookup all our other cameras with and overall we are super impressed with the quality and price point of these cameras. We would recommend them to anyone who has an understanding of how to pull cable and hook that into your current infrastructure, otherwise wireless cameras may be the better way to go. Overall I would definitely give this a 5 star for the price and quality, thanks for the install Hubby! ... show more
