  • Dark, sad, a little twisty, and definitely worth a watch!
You could enjoy this movie just for the trip down memory lane. VHS tapes, corded telephones, video dating services, roller rink dates, a cassette-playing boom box, and Wil's sweater vest - all so amazingly on point. Excellent acting by all characters - someone did a seriously great job casting for this movie. Each one was so utterly believable in their role. The movie elicits so many emotions but be warned, many of them are dark... hopelessness, sadness, loneliness, fear, disappointment, brief glimmers of hope quickly extinguished. Definitely not the best 1st date kind of movie but not one you'll want to miss either. ... show more

  • Early 90s video dating
This movie really does an amazing job bringing you back into the early 90s! Has some great creepy, quirky twists and turns

  • I really wanted to give it 4....
I think this is Wheaton's best work since Stand By Me... no joke, he did a fabulous job and I really wanted to give this movie a 4! But the story, while I think it had potential (basically the life of an incel and the mental health of a trapped man), the plot seem to drag on and just plod along. I had to break up watching this movie into chunks because it was boring in so many spots. Again, I really enjoyed the Wheaton character and his acting,he showed real talent bringing this character to 'life'. I thought he did a superb job. But overall I found the movie just above average due to the slow, plot. ... show more

  • Emotional, unexpected and creepy all at once
This one surprised me - the characters and situations were completely believable. I felt like I was seeing other sides of people I might know in real life. I expected something gimmicky but got something a lot more thought provoking and subtle. I appreciated the tonal shifts that broke things up. The ending hit me like a truck and was a satisfying conclusion. Don't come here for basic horror or action. Do expect to be unnerved in multiple ways. ... show more

  • A great film!
A lot of people probably haven’t seen this movie. I am glad I discovered it! A strange film, not so much scary, just kind of dark , yet somehow comforting lol. A well made movie that’s for sure.

  • I liked it, some may not
This was sort of a dark comedy / psychologically dark movie. It was low budget, but the acting is great as the main character decends deeper into madness. Plus, Will Wheaton plays a creepy character which works in this movie.

  • A friend would tell you this...
If I am being honest, I had high hopes for this film based upon the positive reviews. I usually make a hard and fast rule to not get caught up in any manufactured groundswell of emotion, positive or negative based upon others’ critiques. In this case, I was looking for something in this genre and thought I would give it a try. The extra star was provided on the casting choices and acting. The characters were well constructed, and you became empathic with each of their plights. Herein lies my biggest issues and frustration. David, while being constricted by a caregiving role, is a person who appears generally well adjusted, albeit lonely. This is precisely why the attachment and subsequent detachment is so profoundly frustrating and frankly, frustrating and implausible. When his ‘goals’ were finally reached, the dichotomy of those ‘in’ his life were not plausible and I found myself struggling to understand the genesis of his reluctance and decisions. This had the opportunity to be so much more, but those issues required a deeper and more expansive narrative other than some trenchant break from reality. ... show more
