The refining of the butter results in a oil that is more flexible with scenting, coloring, and shelf life span when used for soap making and other beauty products. This is authentic Eithopian shea butter. It has a naturally creamy consistency. I was advised by a naturalist / herbalist touse this to help my blemishes go away. I'm a highly melaninated 50 yr old A/A woman who was very skeptical. My facial routine is pretty basic, using only soap, a glycolic acid serum, and now this product. Within two weeks of using this shea butter on my face I began noticing a difference. My facial skin was brighter, smoother and had a healthy glow. I haven't had any breakouts or bad reactions to putting thus on my face and neck. (Really, I use it on my entire body). I like the consistency of the shea butter. I was the first person to place the lotion on my arms and hands last night right after it was delivered. Then my skin started itching. Two of my children put the lotion on their skin after me and their skin started itching. I don't know if we are allergic to some of the ingredients. Overall I will try the shea butter again tomorrow to see if I experience the same thing. However, I like how soft it makes my skin but I might have an allergy to the pureness of the shea butter. I did use the shea butter again the next day. However, I added some olive oil to the portion I spooned out to use and my skin no longer itches. My children used Vaseline and the pure shea butter and it works for their skin. I love the product. ... show more
