  • Great generator so far… easy start. 2 year warranty. Hope it lasts
Style: 3800W
The media could not be loaded. Purchased. Came next day. Set it up. Put in the oil. Checked the spark plug wire. Added the exhaust Extension. Added gasoline. Started on the first pull! I found I a bit quieter than our previous 1800 watt gender that was 10 years old. Runs our fan and our 6000btu lg inverter compressor air conditioning on the boat fine. Unit has a meter to tell me the voltage, the amps, the power frequency, the hours it ran today, and the total hours. The knob that opens the gas cock, closes the choke, and ungrounds the electric so it can start was daily easy to turn and easy to turn on and to turn off. There is no breaker switch for the plug ins so you should remove plugs before you start it. It has an overload breaker. Lights and alarms and motor shuts down if it has low oil, if it senses too much carbon monoxide, and if it overloads the breaker pops. You push it in to reset and there is an ac reset switch. I ran 1100watt ac and it did not seem to make it ramp up speed too much. It was running between 1/4-1/2 speed. Reasonably quiet, especially when kept in a gen shed and using an exhaust extension. Gas lasted for several hours running the ac today. So far, I am happy either way this generator. It has a two year warranty. I hope that does not mean that they only expect it to work for two years and then it will break? My last one lasted 10 years. Is claims it runs up to 9 hours at 25% load, and 4.2 hours at 50% load and so it should run about 2.1 hours at full load. Tank is 1.8 gallons. Tank is plastic. Many parts of generator are plastic. Keeps it light. But I hope the motor crankshaft is not plastic. That would account for a two year warranty I guess. As long as it keeps starting, keeps running, and keeps making power for at least two years we will be happy. Longer would be nice but… the warranty tells you how long they stand behind the product. Thankfully it was on sale 25%off so we could afford it. It’s running our 6000 Btu ac on the boat all day and into the night. So far so good. If anything changes I will update my review. But so far I am happy with it. It was inexpensive enough. It works so far. Oh, and the pull string to start it is on the side I need it to be on for my shed install. All the generators smaller than 3000watts have it on the left side as you face its front controls. This one has the recoil start pull on the right hand side as you face the controls. Strange. No one seems to build them with the controls on the right side any more. So, lightweight-about 57 lbs. I could just carry it a few feet. Large gas tank 1.8 gallons Long runtime 9 hours at 1/2 load 4.2 hours at half load and 2,1 hours at full load. Easy to start. Easy to use. Good meter on front Easy to start and stop. Has eco mode to save fuel. Looks good. Has carb compliant exhaust system and co alarm. So far it’s great! I only hope it outlasts its warranty. Hopefully by the time it breaks I’ll have enough save to replace it. I will mention again my last generator (powerhouse 200wi) lasted 10 years. It would be great if this lasted half as long. It’s working it’s good I recommend this generator. Especially if you can get it on sale! Enjoy! ... show more

  • Perfect Compact Generator
Style: 2400W-Gas Only
The media could not be loaded. My family had a bit of a wake up call the past 2 weeks when we received an insane amount of winter weather. It caught us completely off guard when we lost power and our propane fireplace was completely empty of propane. So my wife insisted we have a generator to have at the back of the house that would allow us to run a space heater, refrigerator, etc. in the event we’re completely out of power. I saw this model by Redact on Amazon and decided to give it a try. This generator is a perfect compact design for people who need a generator that doesn’t take up alot of space. It’s not too heavy, easily carried around the yard. The quality of the materials is great too, hard plastic all around and it wipes down easily after getting dirty in the snow. Using the generator is pretty straightforward, just put gas and oil in and you’re good to go. The pull starter is a nice and smooth action and the engine has a nice low sound to it. I was worried it might be a high pitch “2-stroke dirtbike” sound but it’s a nice low him that we never even noticed when it was running in the backyard under a small awning. The panel on the side has some nice features as well like a CO monitor, 2 standard outlets, USB C, and USB A. We had 2 extension cords running from the panel through a small window and into our home. We had all the normal things we would need. The power never dropped off or had surges or anything, streamlined AC. The value for money is excellent here. If you look at similar size generators they easily cost 2x the price of this model. Save your money and keep your family at ease with this generator! We plan to use when we go camping around the country also, happy customer! ... show more

  • Excellent generator for the price.
Style: 2400W-Gas Only
The media could not be loaded. Redact Ra2400i Generator review We have decided to crank up our camping gear a notch and add a generator. Sometimes we camp in the wild, without power, but still want to enjoy the luxury of running the air conditioning during the night and have a nice cup of coffee from our Jura machine. Weight and power output played a major role in our decision making. There is a very competitive market out there when it comes to portable generators in that power range. We could have easily spent double the money for a similar performance. After some research, we went with the Redact Ra2400i. The generator weighs about 40lb, less than the more expensive competitors. This is a plus but also a minus, more about that later. After unpacking, reading the manual and filling oil and gas, it was time to start the generator before taking it on the first camping trip. It started right away, no trouble whatsoever. After letting it run in for about five minutes I performed a warm start, also no issues. So, here we go on our camping trip, generator packed as well. After setting up camp, we connected the generator and tried it with just the coffee maker. Everything worked well. Then we turned on the AC (Heat pump). We could hear the generator speeding up and getting a bit noisy but still OK for my taste. We filled it up around 10pm, had it running throughout the night, lasted until 6am without refueling. Summary: We are impressed with the flawless performance and the easy start-up regardless of the generator being cold and warm. It is a bit noisier than other generators I have seen. This is maybe the tradeoff for being a bit lighter than the competitors. The good stuff: Light weight, easy start-up, quality look and feel, fuel consumption, steady output, no power fluctuations, overall value. The downsides: Not the quietest portable generator in this category. I am giving it 5 stars because of the bang for the buck. I was tempted to give only 4 stars because of the slightly louder application but that seemed unfair considering the value that I got for my $$. ... show more
