This thing is better than advertised. Easily runs 15-16mph, and kid routinely gets 4+ hours on every charge. Perfect for my 8yr old, and will be able to ride it for several years.

This is my son's second Razor dirt bike. He was starting to outgrow his old one. We upgraded him from the MX350 to this SX500. It is a good 8 inches taller. He is an average size 8 year old and it fits him great. It is a much better looking bike as well. The suspension is about the same, but it has disc brakes on both front and rear. It is pretty quick and the battery life is good as well. He can ride pretty much non stop for well over an hour. He mostly rides it around the neighborhood. True offroad riding would probably result in shorter battery life. ... show more

Easy assembly, battery runs about 40 minutes on dirt, seems to run longer on pavement. It is heavy and is hard for my 6 year old to pick up when on the ground. The shocks on this bike are also a nice feature. It’s a perfect fit for a 6 year old, he’s 48” tall and 65lbs. We had the MX350 only a short time before upgrading to this SX500.     • Terrible costumer service, parts break
After 6 months, the motor died. Razor sent us a new motor that needed to be put in by a razor replace center, nearest one was 2 hours away. We took it to the repair center, got it back and within weeks it stopped working again. Horrible costumer service, I feel confident they knew that by sending us another motor it would push us outside our warranty and it wouldn’t be their problem. They are the only name in the game though, so no pressure to do better. We have tons of friends with these and they all have issues. ... show more

I purchased this bike after going back and forth between this one and the smaller of the two. I believe the box says for ages 14 and up- I just don't know how a 14 year old would ride this bike. Its perfect for an 8 year old, but he should be a strong 8 year old. My son is on the husky side, 85 pounds and it's perfect for him. The only reason I say that is if/when they fall it's pretty heavy to lift up. My son loves this bike and asks to ride it everyday. The only reason I give it 4 stars is the battery doesn't seem to be as strong/powerful as I had hoped. It rides well on dirt, streets and up little hills. This is a perfect bike for the mom that isn't quite ready for her child to have a gas powered motor bike. ... show more

Kids (5 and 9) love it. The 9 year old is perfect size and age for it. It's fast enough, and big enough. I was worried he would be too tall but even if he "outgrows" it in height, it's still good for years to come. I'm 5' tall and ride it comfortable. The 5 year old isn't tall or strong enough to hold it up on his own and it's a little too scary for him still. So, we got training wheels and put them on it. ... show more

My 8 year old loves it! Perfect fit, nice quality. Might be too amateur for a 14 yr old. I was hesitant to get it for my 8 yr old but based on previous reviews, I did anyway. Glad I did.
