The RAWLINGS ALO78 Fastpitch Softball Bat (2026) is a great next step up from aluminum bats once your kid becomes consistent at hitting. Higher end bats don’t make kids a better batter by themselves. This is a bat for those kids with some experience. For those inexperienced parents, this is a bat that needs to be broken in. Unlike aluminum bats, composite bats need to be hit a number of times at different strengths and speed to ensure the bat is ready for game day. Once the bat is ready, the hitting speed, pop, and ball distance is better than an aluminum bat. The fit and finish is good, but seems like there might have been some quality control issues with the paint chipping on the early production models. If you can find this bat at $200 or less, than I would say’s that’s a good value. Otherwise the full price isn’t really a value. If you are looking for the next level in bat technology and can take advantage of what composite bats can offer, this is one to consider.

For the past month and a half, my 10 year old daughter has been testing this bat out on a regular basis. She has had both the Louisville Kryo and access to several Easton Ghost bats during this time. Rawlings is not a brand you normally seek out for fast pitch softball bats but I believe that this particular model is setting them apart from the others. The bat is very nicely made and has a nice textured feel on the grip. The minus 12 drop was impressive especially when we discovered just how much pop it has. I have noticed that when she makes contact with the ball, the ball flies off of this bat. I do not think I have seen a bat with this much pop that also has the incredible weight drop this one does. One of the sweetest things about this bat is the sound it makes with contact. You can tell right away that it is solidly built. When I compare this bat to some of the others that she has had in the past I believe it is an excellent value for the money because she is getting responsiveness comparable to bats that cost twice as much.

This bat looks heavy but is actually very light weight. This neon pink color is awesome. Performs well as it should with its weight. Durable and constructed well. Not truly value priced. Recommend for young girls softball.
