We are in our mid 50's and never played a TCG before. This is a great way to learn. Gateway takes you from the basics and adds different gameplay concepts through four gates, each with their own quests to complete. Each gateway represents a certain card play type and the quest/goals are making plays that represent that gateway. Numbered add-on decks are added after completing each gates quest. After going through and adding all four packs you have 2 full starter decks to continue playing, modifying with other cards to make a better deck or reset the decks and let someone else learn how to play. The game is really fun. This is the best way to start, it teaches you step by step. It’s set up like a board game, so you don’t have to be a hard core trading card game player to enjoy.

Very fun game just don’t open the extra 4 groups of cards because it makes it confusing. Start with the characters how it tells you to and then add on songs, items, and locations. It also comes with two decks so you and your friend can play. They are already premade for you.

Worked really well to get my 9-year old daughter into a trading card game. It does an excellent job of teaching the rules as you play which was really great. It’s not as deep as Magic the Gathering, but it is WAY easier to learn.
