These shakers are exceptionally bright (i.e., trebly), so they've got some cut. That can be useful in a live acoustic setting when you may not have the luxury of amplification. That said, I like something with a bit more warmth to it (think LP or Meinl). One thing these do have going for them over egg-shaped shakers is that they're less prone to rolling away and getting lost, especially if you use the clamp to keep them paired. They can also be angled so you get different sounds and textures when using them paired, which is potentially useful. I don't know that these would be my first choice, but for the cost I can't say I'm disappointed either.

Most musical instruments are suited to a certain person’s taste or preference. These are definitely entry level shakers not to be compared to name brands. They are easy to get a rhythm going but they don't have that rich sound that name brand percussion instruments have. These would work fine for your typical backyard jam session or drum circle. They are easy to handle and reasonably reliable. I don’t know how well they’ll hold up long term with regular use or abuse. The twist lock is nice for when you want to separate them to spread around the shakers or two hand shakers. They are reasonably priced.

This RANMING Twist Shaker is pretty cool! It’s a double shaker that can twist apart to make two. The shaker has a nice bright sound, especially in the double conformation. When twisted apart, the individual shaker is not very loud. They are easy to grip as singles, a bit less so in the double mode. Great for practice and a good choice for kids, this is durable enough to make a nice and useful addition to your percussion kit.
