  • Great investment!! 2003 chevy suburban on 28 inch rims
they work better then any shocks i've ever had! i have them on a 2003 chevy suburban that is on 28 inch rims! i decided to upgrade my entire suspension and went with these shock on front and back.. perfect fit and cool adjustment knob to stiffen the ride or soften it up! rides better then expected and handles like a sport suspension specially on the curves and turns.. ... show more

  • Does not fit properly on 2004 Chevy avalanche
The rancho website lists this part number as the right one for this truck. My truck is bone stock. They bolt in fine but they don’t have enough travel. The shocks top out before the suspension reaches the droop stop. I added 1/4” to the droop stop which limits down travel by about an inch at the wheel to stop the shocks from topping out. The shocks still died after a couple weeks. They didn’t leak the fluid out but they no longer dampen at all and the adjuster does nothing. ... show more

  • BEWARE WITH THE SOCK PRESSURE
I BOUGHT THIS ITEM IN SEPTEMBER, A PAIR FOR MY 03 AVALANCHE, WHEN I WAS INSTALLING IT I PUSHED THE SHOCK TO THE END TO SEE HOW THEY COME BACK AGAIN AND ONE OF THEM WAS COMING BACK SLOWER THAN THE OTHER... I THOUGHT THAT I HAD TO INSTALL THEM AND SELECT A SETTING SO THEM CAN FEEL THE SAME. I VE BEEN FEELING SINCE SEPTEMBER SOME KIND OF UNSTABLE RIDE AT HIGH SPEED, SO I WAS THINKING, I HAV E TO BUY THE REAR ONES NOW, SO I CAN HAVE SAME SETTING FOWARD AND BACKWARD, I INSTALLED THE REAR ONES AND THE PROBLEM FEEL WORSE NOW, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO CHANGE BOTH FRONT SHOCKS, BECAUSE THE RIGHT ONE (THE ONE WITH LESS PRESSURE) HAS TO BE REEPLACED AND YOU CANNOT CHANGE ONLY ONE, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE TWO OF THEM, SO YOU WILL HAVE SAME PRESSURE IN BOTH OF THEM...JUST WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR BOX PUSH BOTH OF THEM SO YOU CAN BE SHURE THAT THEY ARE EVEN AND GOOD....NOW I WILL HAVE TO BUY THE TWO OF THEM AGAIN....BECAUSE I WAITED SO LONG TO REALIZE THEY CAME DEFECTIVE. PRODUCT LOOKS TO BE DURABLE AND IT WORKS BUT CHECK THEM BEFORE INSTALL THEM. ... show more

  • Maybe second time is a charm?
The timing of getting this review request is amazing. I installed two shocks for the front of my wheels about three weeks ago. While I was driving today, I went over a speed bump at a low speed and noticed that front end of my truck behaved erracticly and harshly. When I stopped to take a look, I noticed that one of the shocks was cock-eyed. I drove slowly the rest of the way home noticing that there was no suspension compression on the affected side. When I jacked up my truck and took out the shock, it came out in two pieces! In addition to this, the shocks didn't come with any instructions, and I had to quesstimate on the proper torque of the top nut and the lower mounting bolt. When I tried to download the manual from the Rancho website, it wouldn't recognize the part number, no matter what iteration I used to type it in. Finally the threads were so heavily coated with overspray from the painting of the tubes, I had to remove it once during installation and clean those up. I have been working on all my vehicles for more than two decades, and I can't remember any part I installed that failed in this type of spectacular fashion. I purchased these shocks because of the great reputation they carry. I'm willing to give this one more shot, and I hope the next shock I get works the way it is supposed to! If it does, I'll update and revise this review. ... show more

  • Great shocks for my truck.
These are front shocks for my 2000 Silverado. Fitment was 99%. It was about 1-inch short, so I had to use my jack to raise the suspension so the top nut would reach the thread. I suspect the shock would "top out" at the most extreme suspension droop. These shocks have settings from 1 (softest) to 9 (firmest). Setting it to "3" seems to match the stock ride -- dampens bumps well while handling pretty well still. ... show more

  • I was very disappointed to see that even on the stiffest setting
With the large adjustment range advertised, I was expecting to be able to set these shocks either too soft or too firm, and find an ideal setting somewhere in the middle. When I got them, I was very disappointed to see that even on the stiffest setting, these shocks were about the same as the too-soft Belltech Street Performance shocks that I already had on the truck and was trying to replace. So essentially the settings range from too soft to WAY too soft. Returned. ... show more

  • Replaced bad shock
Having a good set of front shocks made a difference in empty ride. I don't know if the Ranchos are worth the money I paid though. Towing performance has been degraded by installing the rear Rancho 9000s in place of a good set of GM OEM shocks on my 2000 Yukon XL. 21' boat on a tandem axle trailer with a 11% tongue weight causes significant sagging even with shocks dialed to "9". Spare trailer tire is now within 2" of the ground. Installed an Air Lift 1000 rear air spring kit and got the rig back to where it was with OEM shocks. When I get time I will be reinstalling the OEM shocks. ... show more
