I am not a huge face of Ralph Lauren's fragrance line, but being an Oud fan I had to give it a shot. This beauty has literally nothing to do with the classic Polo Green or any of its flankers. The opening notes are hardly there, but they're there. Maybe because I'm a huge fan of the traditional Oud & Rose combo, but I was immediately hit with the perfect balance of both. Just a bit smokie and powdery but in a good way. If this was a second chance for me to like Ralph Lauren's fragrance I have to say I'm in. It's delicate and smooth in a way that it can easily pass as a unisex fragrance, but it's still manly and elegant. It is a beautiful blend and I can't wait to wear it a few times. If you like Oud you'll enjoy this one. Even if you don't like oud due to some scents being too bold, this one is now and you won't regret giving it a chance. ... show more

    • A little “old”
Gorgeous packaging and bottle. The initial scent is kind of “elderly”…like it smells like your grandfathers cologne or something. It does mellow into a rich and sophisticated fragrance, but still has that undertone that makes my brain flash “old man”.

I'm usually not a big fan of oud fragrances, and my wife isn't either. Normally, she'd ask me to wash it off right away because there's something about oud that can be a bit overpowering. But this is good, very, very good. The oud and woody scents in this fragrance are surprisingly subtle, and they don't hit you over the head with their oud-ness. It's like they've found the perfect balance between the rich, earthy notes of oud and the more mellow, woody undertones. The top notes of clary sage and pink pepper give it a nice kick, and as it settles in, you can really pick up on the pleasant hints of rose, cinnamon, and orange. What's great about this fragrance is that it doesn't overwhelm your senses, and it seems to mellow out as the day goes on. The base notes of oud, incense, guaiac wood, vetiver, and patchouli create a warm and inviting aroma that lasts throughout the day without becoming too heavy. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much we both enjoy wearing this cologne. It's a nice departure from the typical oud fragrances that can be a bit too intense. If you're like me and usually shy away from oud scents, give Ralph Lauren's Polo Oud a try – you might just be as pleasantly surprised as we were! ... show more

Ralph Lauren has always put out some of the best perfume and cologne scents. My nose has always been able to tell them apart from other fragrances. I ordered this cologne with confidence because I've yet to be disappointed with their fragrances. This item arrived it Ralph Lauren’s signature cologne box. The cologne comes in a very large dark green bottle. The great thing about Ralph Lauren cologne is that you only need a spritz or two for the fragrance to linger all day. The scent of this cologne is so different than what I was expecting. This combination of scents made for a unique scent profile. Once the cologne settled I could smell multiple aromas that complimented each other nicely. To me, the scent was woodsy, and right behind that was burning amber and orange peel. It’s definitely not your typical cologne scent, but it is an attractive fragrance that will grab anyone’s attention, and will leave you smelling wonderful all day, even after a long, busy day at work. ... show more

I'm not the best at describing perfume notes but will give it a crack here. This is a spicy, peppery, almost powdery (perhaps that is the orange flower and rose) fragrance at first; after a minute or two, a delightful clean, woodsy scent comes out. Even seen Quo Vadis? This is what Robert Taylor's character would smell like. I love woodsy scents on men but am not a big fan of musk, which I find too overpowering. I do not find this fragrance musky at all, whew. A little goes a LONG way. This huge bottle, while pricey, should last you a long time. The fragrance also lingers. I love walking into a room where someone has sprayed it as it still smells nice. A male member of my household who usually wears a water type scent really liked this one. I do think it is a masculine scent rather than unisex, but honestly it smells so good I say just use it if you like it. Recommended! ... show more

This stuff smells great. I'm a fan of the smokey, woodsy scent out oud, so this is right up my alley. There is a complex mix of other scents, a tiny hint of orange flower and other florals and spices. I'm not a big wearer of cologne, but like using this to give a quick spritz in the air to make any room smell great. I did test it out as cologne and it was long lasting, with only a single spray needed, so this bottle should last a long time. At $135, this isn't exactly a budget item. Just keep in mind that unless you're dousing yourself with this stuff (which a little goes a long way), you'll get many years of use out of this. I think the scent is rich and complex, offering a very pleasing blend that will appeal to the ladies and gentlemen in your life. ... show more
