  • Really Nice
Style: Digging Fork
After looking at reviews of many forks I decided on this one. Makes digging for planting trees much much easier than using a shovel alone. The round handle is very nice. Like that it is stainless steel too.

  • Best weeder ever
Style: Weeder
The shovel is comfortable and easy to use. The narrow blade is effective; it’s easy to place it right next to the center of the weed. Step on the support, rock the shovel back and forth, and pull straight up on the weed. Tamp the soil back down and move on to the next offender.

  • Company honors guarantee
Style: Digging Fork
I was bouncing up and down on the handle and managed to bend a tine that was caught under a rock. Not surprising given my weight! Even hitting it with a sledgehammer I couldn't bend it back. I called the Company and had a replacement three days later

  • Love this shovel!!!
Style: Spade
After breaking another trenching shovel, I started shopping for a new shovel to use for planting and general digging in my 5+ acre yard. I have a hand shovel that I like that was made by this company (Radius), so I was interested in their other offerings. This shovel caught my eye- the round topped handle looked like it would offer many ways to hold and operate the shovel. I was very happy when the shovel was delivered! The shovel is shiny chrome, the bright green round handle is easy to see if I lay it down while working, and that round handle is so handy and easy to both carry around and use. I can get great leverage while digging or prying rocks out of sticky clay mud. I find myself using the shovel like a cane while climbing around the steep parts of our property. It’s easy to make clean cuts in roots, and the back part that you step on to push the shovel into the ground seems larger than other shovels, and is easy to push or stand on to get the shovel deeply into the ground. Needless to say, I’m very happy with this shovel. I like it so much that I gave a red one to my sister for her birthday. :-) ... show more

  • Good tool for appropriate use
Style: Spade
I bought this tool on the recommendation of someone who digs trenches for bamboo barriers. That was my purpose for purchasing the tool. My regular garden shovel with a long handle goes through easy soil much faster, but on the other hand, it's shallower. I also can't use it for any sort of leveraging without risking bending the shovel blade or breaking the handle. So this has been my procedure. I dug the perimeter where I intended to put in the bamboo barrier with the garden shovel. The shovel easily sliced through the grass and picked up the top foot or so of soil. I don't have many rocks to speak of, so this worked fairly well. The bamboo barrier needs to be buried 2 feet down, though, which was a bit much for the shovel. Conveniently, the garden shovel is wider than this spade, so by digging with the shovel first, that provides sideways movement along the trench to move the spade back and forth to penetrate the soil. I did sharpen the blade, and that made a big difference. It's easy enough to sharpen it with a good file. I'm probably going to also file some teeth into the leading edge. My biggest obstacle is roots from the neighbor's pecan trees. There are roots anywhere from 1/4 inch to 3 inches in diameter going through where the trench needs to be. I can dispatch those roots with this spade, but I can't with my garden shovel. So between the shovel getting down the first foot, and the spade going down the second foot, I'm making good progress with the trench. One comment about weight -- this tool has some heft to it. Don't purchase it thinking you'll be getting a lightweight tool. This is a pretty heavy duty tool. Use the weight to your advantage. Without that extra weight, I would not be able to sever those large tree roots. I tried with my garden shovel and failed. Well, I would have succeeded with some persistence, but this spade cuts through them with relative easy, partly because of the heft. After heavily using the spade for a few days, it is creaking now. It shows no signs of fatigue. The creaking comes from the interface between the metal and plastic components of the handle. Update: Well, apparently, the creaking was, in fact, a sign of fatigue. Since my last edit, the "unbreakable" shaft broke. I've taken some pictures to illustrate the problem, but I can't find a way to add pictures to my review here, so I've uploaded them to [...] To understand what you're seeing, you need to know that the end of the handle is inserted during assembly into the hollow shank of the scoop. The shaft of the handle is also hollow. Furthermore, its end has been cut lengthwise in order for it to be bent to accommodate the angle of the shank. The shaft slides into the shank, a snug fit being accomplished using an o-ring that is apparently made of polyethylene. When digging, if you use leverage to move the dirt, you put a lot of force on the o-ring as well as on the cut part of the shaft. In my case, both parts of the cut end of the shaft broke off, approximately at the place where the pin goes through the shaft to hold the two main pieces together. I explained my situation to amazon.com, and they sent out a replacement, free of charge, paying for shipping if the replacement as well as return shipping for the broken spade. I still think this is a very good spade. But don't believe the label on the shaft that says unbreakable. I believed it, and broke it. You can still do some heavy work with it, but don't put your full strength into leveraging the tool. ... show more

  • Stomp It!
Style: Edger
Looks just like the photos. Takes effort and works well. I place it where I want to cut, push down with one foot then add pressure with the other foot. My edges look better when I push back on the handle (away from the sidewalk, for example) to a 30-40 degree angle before lifting up. That gives a bit of separation between the sidewalk and the grass line. Looks good. ... show more

  • If you use this digging fork a lot, it more than likely......
Style: Digging Fork
The tool works fine but I use it almost daily. I don't think this is designed for the rigors of a farm as I have owned two of these and both have broken in different places. Once after 6 months where the tines attach to the handle. I was able to weld it back together. The other broke from the round handle off the shaft. I ordered another because they do work well. Don't expect years of use if you use it daily. ... show more
