Got this when my cats were 9ish lbs, they have grown with it and are now 13-15 lbs. Initial training was inside and I had the harnesses too loose because i was worried it was too restrictive. I just wanted to share that training got much easier when I tightened the harness more than what I initially thought it should be. Harnesses are supposed to be snug behind their armpits so they cannot escape it or injure themselves. If it fits correctly it will look a little odd in terms of body proportions to the size of the harness as compared to say, like a dog harness that goes further down an animals body towards their ribs, instead it looks like a silly little backpack but that is what you are looking for. Also in comparison to a dog harness, you want it to be much more snug to a cats body, while a dog harness will have more wiggle room so it does not rub them raw. This does not happen on this cat harness, there is not irritation at the proper tightness. So make sure you adjust this so it is snug behind the elbows-if it is snug do not worry it will not be uncomfortable for your cat, do not give them extra space as that is what allows for injury and rubbing as it is not staying out behind to elbows. If it is not tight enough, or if it is too tight, it will be uncomfy for them. You can tell if it is over tight because they will stand very stiff. Be sure to readjust if their weight is changing and pay attention to how it suits them. Make sure that the straps are equal length on both sides when you readjust. If you have a fat cat they might look silly when it is tight enough because of how snug it is on their tiny shoulders but that’s what you want. It should be snug enough on their shoulder blades that it is staying in the same place even when they are rolling around on the ground, but not so tight that they are restricted to walk. When it is snug enough it is perfectly comfortable for them because it is behind their elbows and not rubbing at all when they jump and climb. The snugness is what allows them to forget they are wearing it-once I got it adjusted right for each cat, training became so easy. My babies are comfy in their harnesses and will hang out in them all day if I leave it on with no complaint, they seem to enjoy it. Like they will purr and nap in them without asking to take it off. when I bring out the harnesses, they go straight to the door and ready to go outside.

I have been trying to solve this problem ever since bringing my 13-year-old boat live-aboard cat to my lab in the woods. Of course she wants to go exploring... The first attempt was a velcro-on thing with slick fabric... pretty and well made, but she would scrunch down, take a few steps with her belly rubbing against the ground, then fall over and gaze at me with a sad and defeated air. The second attempt was the other extreme, entirely straps and buckles... it didn't annoy her, but it was very fiddly with small parts and would always get turned around weirdly, with a leg out through the neck hole or the whole thing mysteriously turned all around in ways that made no topological sense. But this "Rabbitgoo" harness is wonderful. The fabric is soft and nice to the touch, the predicted size (XS, which I never would have believed) was spot-on, and I love the construction quality. I chose red to have a color that would stand out in the woods without being too ostentatious if she wandered off, and the included leash matches well. She never complains, enjoys taking me for walks, and wears it all day even when we're not outside. When there is an emergency, it WORKS - the other day a bald eagle flew over while I her on a 25-foot lead, and she bolted for cover... coming up short before I even realized what was happening. The connection stayed secure, and with the broad coverage across her chest instead of thin straps, I don't think it was even uncomfortable. (We shooed the eagle off, and all is well.) Happy to have finally found a cat harness that looks snazzy, is comfortable, and works well.

i have a 7lb cat and got an XXS, i haven’t tried to take him on walks yet (this will come with lots of time) but he will SCREAM the whole care ride if he is in his carrier… so i got him this harness and a dog car seatbelt so that he could ride in the car with me and not scream this way he can be contained to an extent and still look out the window (maybe not as safe as driving with him in a carrier but definitely makes drives easier and more relaxing for him). the size fits him well, i had to adjust it to the smallest it can be to fit him and over time as he grows it will grow with him :) I think the sizes were oddly deceiving as i thought the smallest size would be really small… it was not. for a 7lb cat xxs is perfect. he hasn’t yet tried to escape it but i think depending of how tight you secure it it should be fine.
