  • Really well built! And tech support is the best!
I'm in the process of running my 5th kg of filament through this printer. I've used 2 brands of ABS and 3 different specialty PLA types so far with this machine. I am really impressed by the quality and consistency of the prints. No problems sticking to the build plate (plastic side of the spring steel mat that adheres to the magnets in the build plate). This machine is rock solid in every way (mechanically, and firmware stability). This is my second Qidi printer. My first was a Qidi 1 dual extruder. I still like that machine, but this X-Plus is so much better. The design is well thought out, the extruders are so easy to remove/swap/clean--they are modular, connected by a single flex cable to the machine (no more dangling wires to deal with). The toutch screen is very nice, and the controls are self-explanatory. Right out of the box, operation has been easy, without the need for glue sticks, tape, trial and error calibrations, or any other forms of voodoo most printers require. Qidi has worked hard improving their machines over time, and it really shows in this product. Yes, $1000 is a lot of money. But, you get a printer with quality beyond that price. You also get really wonderful tech support. They are pleasant, very outgoing, and really know their stuff. They treat the customer with respect, and assume you are intelligent and capable. They have no problem explaining technical details at any level you are comfortable with. I was surprised during my first interaction about this machine when I sent an email in the afternoon, got a detailed response that evening, replied to it in the morning, and got a response right after my reply. They must work 12 hour shifts! Here is my workflow, in case someone is interested: (0) From work.... (1) Design in Solidworks. (2) Slice in Simplify3D. (3) Power on the printer remotely using a WiFi connected relay I wired into "Breakpoint Board." Qidi guided me through bypassing the Breakpoint Board in order to use an IOT power socket, but I found I prefer keeping breakpoint functionality (it remembers where the printer left off if power fails, or it is turned off during a print), and that's why I used a WiFi relay board. (4) Send the gcode file I created with Simplify3D to the printer via the Qidi Print software (I connect to my home network through a VPN, so everything is on the same subnet), and select the option to print. (5) Watch the action using 3 different cameras (Wyze Cams). (6) If anything unusual were to happen, I can remotely switch the power off, and optionally resume the print when I get home. Not Octoprint, but it works very well for me, and it's very simple. Excellent build quality, design, tech support, and value! The Qidi X-Plus does everything I want, and does it well. ... show more

  • The best 3D printer for the money
Size: PLUS3
X Plus 3 makes the best prints I've ever printed. It does an excellent job with all the materials I tested (ASA, TPU, PA (nylon), PC, PA CF, PC CF...). There is very little to no need to tweak the default profiles in the software except if you use some no-name questionable quality filaments. So, it is perfect for enthusiasts who want the best quality and for beginners who just want to print without learning the process. It is not perfect in things that don't affect the print quality. The user interface is not bad, but not the best I've seen. Design is not for everybody's taste, but under the (IMO) not-so-beautiful plastic cover, you have the system of hardware at a very high level. Unbelievably they managed to sell this at an affordable price. $650 doesn't sound affordable, but if you think of any printer of this size that you can get for $200-300, to match the possibility of this printer, you must spend a lot of money on upgrades and still must deal with firmware modifications, making all kinds of adapters and probably never achieve this level. Customer support service is way above any other ones I had to deal with. Fast responding, friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help and keep the customer happy. I have 3 other printers and now I am so thrilled about the printer you don't spend time on servicing, repairing, or upgrading, but designing parts and printing. ... show more

  • This printer is a Beast!
I’m new to 3D printing so I had no idea where to start in purchasing a 3D printer. I’m retired so I was looking for a new hobby and 3D printing had always fascinated me. My son had a friend who had purchased a Anycubic 4Max Pro and he said it was a great printer. He even posted a 5 star review to that effect. So I took the leap and ordered one. It worked great for about a week and then the touch screen went south. I sent the printer back and requested a replacement. I could never get the bed leveled properly on this one so I sent it back as well. Then while doing further research I came across the Qidi line of printers. Right off I noticed over 95% five star reviews on their printers. At first I thought most of them must be bogus, but after reading them I saw they were not. What’s amazing is some people had occasional problems with their printers. Not many but some. Most still gave the printer a five star review because of the prompt and excellent customer service they received from Qidi from…. yes China. Just read the reviews. I ordered the Qidi X-Plus a couple of weeks ago. This printer is a beast…. Heavy duty in every way including weighing in at over 50 lbs. It has dual Z axis with two 10mm stainless steel rods on each side which makes the print bed rock solid. And this printer is quiet which tells me the bearings and stepper motors are premium. The printer has been going almost non-stop since I received it and has made many excellent prints. My grandson has been designing things on Tinkercad and having me print them for him which I enjoy doing. I haven’t tried to use any of the more exotic filaments yet but the printer comes with an additional extruder that goes up to 300 degrees Celsius so you can print nylon, polycarbonate, etc. Swapping the extruders is extremely easy. There are videos on the USB drive that comes with the printer that explains this process as well as many others. There is a limited number of video reviews on Youtube at present about this particular printer. I’m assuming because it has been on the market less than a year I believe. I noticed on some of the unboxing videos that the printer had shipped with two removable bed plates which are great by the way in removing your prints. I emailed Linda at Qidi and inquired if I should have received two plates with my printer. The next day I received a very nice email from her stating at one time they had included two build plates but haven’t done that in several months and hoped I understood. Which I did. There was certainly no mention of that in the description on Amazon. However, I was impressed with the quick response time to my question. Most companies would probably just ignored it. I recently had a print to fail although it was no fault of the printer. The filament I was using just snapped. I don’t know if I got a bad roll or it was just a bad spot in the roll. Anyway it caused my extruder to clog and I couldn’t reinsert the filament in the extruder. I just pulled up the videos on the flash drive and found the one showing how to unclog the hot end. Following the video, I removed the extruder, took it apart and removed the blockage. Easy ten minute job. I have no doubt that if I have any problems with this printer down the road where I need help that I will receive excellent customer service from this company. In summary there are a lot of lower cost 3D printers on the market as well as more expensive ones than the Qidi X-Plus. If you look at the reviews though there are very few that have more than 60 or 70% five star reviews. I believe I have found the best 3D printer on the market with the X-Plus regardless of price. If you are in the market for a 3D printer you will not be disappointed if you choose the Qidi X-Plus. Update May 10, 2020: A couple of months ago I started getting error messages on the touch screen and the printer would no longer print. I contacted Linda at Qidi Tech via email and she walked me through the trouble shooting process and the problem was isolated to the extruder. She immediately shipped a new replacement. In the meantime I just used the high temp extruder that also came with the printer. Also about a month ago I was printing with the high temp extruder at 250c and my extruder temps were falling as much as 20 degrees while printing. This was happening with both the Qidi software as well as Cura. I again contacted Linda who helped me trouble shoot the problem. It turns out that after I deleted and reinstalled both pieces of software the problem went away and has never happened since. You read so many reviews on other printers where people are having problems and cannot get needed support. This is certainly not the case with Qidi Tech. They support their printers. Qidi customer service is the absolute best! ... show more
