This umbrella fits perfectly in an airplane carry-on if you are definitely traveling to someplace rainy. But, as it is a bit heavy it is possibly not a good everyday carry. It is a very large umbrella when opened and gives great coverage and protection (6'4" 290 lbs here). It stands up very well to stronger winds and hasn't yet been in danger of inverting. It is a bit temperamental when trying to collapse it back (spring likes to try and keep it open), and the closure strap's velcro patch is kind of small. So for the reasons listed, I cannot give this a 5-star rating (weight, closure strap, spring). I needed a full size, sturdy auto open and auto close umbrella that would hold up well to heavy rain. It is made well and it's large. It comes with a little carrier sleeve which is a nice touch. I used it twice in moderate rain and it served well.
