These were indeed "Proper" brand BDUs. Not "Genuine Gear" as other reviewers received. The fabric doesn't appear to be rip-stop. the weave is not the slick crisp rip stop fabric I got in previous Proper BDUs. This weave is a diagonal ridge weave and is softer and not as crisp. My clue should have been the description: 60% cotton / 40% polyester twill. I wanted the rip stop 100% cotton pant. I am pleased with these as a pant for casual wear. I want these pants for beekeeping and need the crisper material that will stand away from my legs. Proper makes excellent BDUs and I get a year or more of wear from two pair worn daily. Next time I will pay closer attention to the description.

The pants arrived reasonably fast. And they are the color, size and style I ordered. However, they are not like military material. I was expecting the rip-stop summer type of material. What I got was not hot weather or cold weather material. It isn't heavy or thick enough to match cold weather material. And it certainly isn't light and breathable enough to be hot weather material. I will update my review if anything ground breaking occurs with the pants. Right now though, I'm not really happy with what I got. "Mil-Spec" is an actual descriptive term, it should not be a marketing gimmick used by sellers.

The pants fit exactly as described (I ordered medium short), but they are NOT ripstop as described. I decided to keep them and not return them because the fabric seems to be heavy enough for my purposes (field geology), so I was okay without the ripstop feature. I also ordered a navy blue pair, and they did have ripstop fabric. C'est la vie.

Best construction work pants. Much more comfortable and durable than jeans and the big cargo pockets are great for a tape measure and other small tools. Ripstop material keeps small holes from becoming blowouts. They have ties in the bottom cuff to cinch them around/under boots; I cut those off because for me that’s a useless feature and they become a trip hazard if left loose.

Great pants. Fits like actual BDUs and are almost as tough as the ones I was issued. EXCEPT OUT OF 6 PAIRS, ALL OF THEM ARE MISSING BUTTONS. Seriously, the buttons on these things are sewn on with thread that is as strong as a premature baby's arm hairs. All of the other stitches are fine, they've been soaked in everything from transmission fluid to silicone caulk to gasoline and more and held up great. It's just these buttons! I feel like I lose another one every trip to the restroom. UPDATE: Ordered two more pairs, got "genuine gear" junk. Flimsy plastic material, zippered fly, not even close to BDUs, junk. Extremely disappointing to see the change, as I still wear my propper BDUs I ordered years ago everyday. Would give 0 stars if I could.

The fit and feel are just like I remember from the U.S. Army. The rip-stops don't need any breaking in. Great right out of the box. The fit is adjustable like the military issued pants. I wore them with a shirt and tie to a show with my wife, and did not feel underdressed.

I've used Propper brand BDU's for years - but they're not my favorite pant. I picked these up to give them another try - but the 5.11 Tac Lite Pro pants are a superior pant in cut, feel, and comfort. These pants are heavier than the 5.11's, but don't seem any more rugged. The crotch is less roomy, the 5.11 comes with BIG back pockets that can hold a ticket/reciept book clip board or a large tablet, with easier accessed cargo pockets. I'd probably buy them again, but only if my 5.11's were out of stock, or these were on a good sale.

Return was flawless when I contacted seller and was truthful in that I hadn't noticed they were button-fly and not the zipper style. Having only one hand, button-fly is a no-no. Customer service sent return shipping label at no cost. Will purchase from seller in the future when zipper fly are available.
