Description

GEESE / PROJECTOR - Geese is a band that begins and ends in Brooklyn, as a project between friends to build a home studio out of a basement. Their songs are born from the same ambition: make music by any means necessary. They began recording together with sneakers as mic stands and blankets draped over the amps, all within the afternoon following a school day, up until they ran the risk of noise complaints. Recently, they signed a record deal, so they are thinking about moving on from sneaker-laden mics and blanketed amps, but their musical ethos has not changed a bit. Curiously alien, yet strangely familiar, the band's debut album, Projector, is a product of five teenagers whose love of music touches every part of their lives: their restless anxiety about their futures, and their pent-up frustration with their present-a perspective all too familiar in today's uncertain world.

  • No Quacks Here, Doctor
Encouraging to listen to a group young enough to see through the wall of weirdness that commercializes pop music has become for innovators--and who somehow managed to make it through without getting maimed. Projector is fresh, sometimes enervating, full of wit, and interesting mood changes, some of them abrupt and thus jarring enough to raise the interest rate right there on the inside of my head. Geese are not The Partridge Family with special effects like some bands perpetually on tour with the Ice Capades or even loonier. Nice change. My stereo likes this band. :) ... show more

  • GEESE BAND BEST BAND
Everyone listen to Geese, these kids aren’t saving any talent for the rest of us. This music maintains homeostasis for me.

  • Great new band from NYC!
Alot of hype written for this young band. But I Like this debut album alot, kinda sound like a little talking heads, a little Strokes, and vocals like Karl Wallinger from (world party) who I love. So I give these kids four stars.

  • Emphesis on "Sonic" and "Youth"
I'm shocked that there are no English-language reviews of this great new band, so I'll go first... I should mention that I haven't yet listened to the whole album, and I may update this after I have, and also, this album is free on Amazon, which certainly disincentivizes buying it, but I bought the CD anyway, because I like physical and I wanted to support the band. The tracks I've heard - structurally and musically - remind me SO MUCH of Sonic Youth when I was recording them back in 1998, although technically, there is no female singer in this band. The soul of SY is too complex to copy it directly, so this band deserves some credit for recreating it on their own terms. I also want to thank Colbert for introducing (us) to this band on 1/14/22! If you like unusual music that rocks in a weird way, I would highly recommend this band! (Just wish their name was easier to Google ;) --Gary ... show more

  • Geese reminds me of true rock
I have given at least 4 copies to friends as gifts. It rocks much like the greats.
