Description

This book is intended for beginners, hobbyists, craftspeople, jewelry artists and professional stonesetters. Fifteen setting projects are arranged in ascending complexity, starting with simple bezels and advancing through a variety of prong settings. This is followed by detailed information on preparing a graver including four bead-setting projects and two advanced channel setting projects. Like Revere's companion book, Professional Jewelry Making, this book uses closeup photography and clear descriptions that make even challenging settings available to any committed jeweler. Read more

  • Essential next step in jewelry making
This a one of those books you need to get. The thing to know is learn the basics before you move onto this level. The books are detailed and amazing, but I would start with a Jinx Mc Garth and work up to the genius, meticulous Alan. I think if I had started here it may have been too intimidating; however, I love the book and the projects especially since I have a good foundation to work from. ... show more

  • Very handy and good explanation
This is a very useful book on stone setting, Very good explanation with appropriate pictures. I have a few books and I found this one the most helpful. I saw a few articles in Stuller.com written by Alan Revere and I really liked the way he is explaining things and when I learned he had books written - I ordered them. Good choice! ... show more

  • S completely clear teacher!
It is an amazing book. Easy to read and follow with all necessary photos of good quality. Alan Revere certaninly shows up as a very skilled and professional teacher learning what he knows. He is not afraid of telling the secrets og stonesmithing. Look so much forward to read other books from Alan and to learn from him ... show more

  • Pretty good book
Revere is a good teacher and it comes across in the book. My only complaint is that the lessons all use commercial settings from Stuller That's not a terrible thing, but I would have preferred if he used more generic settings. Still, it's a good book, and I'm not sorry I bought it, it's just not my favorite. ... show more

  • Stone setting
Alan ravere books are always worth the money. If you're looking to learn how to fabricate setting, this book won't work for you.

  • Excellent technical reference for nearly any setting type
Well written directions with photos or illustrations for procedures, note the directions do not include how to fabricate the metal settings, the focus is on how to work with an existing setting to securely set a stone, information on appropriate, available commercial settings for practice is included; still looking for information on creating kundan settings successfully ... show more
