Was very skeptical at first as they are much brighter than the old ones that came with the laser, but they blocked it way better. Took the beating but did not pass anything through where the old ones that came with the laser blocked 1064 nm of the laser only partially.

Not correctly described. I needed these for a 755nm laser. They were described as OD 6. They are actually OD 3 which is not safe for my usage. I'm returning them for a refund.

I wear glasses, Silhouettes frames with the Ti SMA springy frame like you see politicians wearing, so basically no safety equipment work with them. They're a huge pain, but these goggles do! The frame grips up higher and around your head, off of glasses and holds the lens from the top not the sides, so the sides cover glasses and don't collide with them. They're pretty weightless and that's awesome during use. These are flexible and tough with overmolded ear pieces that work just fine. Lanyard holes are present and a silicone lanyard was included which slips right on (it looks like it doesn't fit but it totally does). The lenses are clearly marked for their wavelengths on the sides of the lens in OD and LB charts with VLB and such. I've tested transmission in 365, 405, 455, and 655nm and it blocks everything I can detect very effectively while allowing the red to pass freely with only slight dimming as expected. My red aiming laser is nice and clear, some of my other goggles virtually block the red. I can read everything and operate controls fine, doesn't screw with being able to read the monitor with tiny low contrast print. These are *way* better than the ones that came with my laser heads and machines, and better than the discount glasses I've purchased in every way. I wish I had a way to do calibrated densitometry but in testing with wavelength reactive materials (fluorescent and photopolymer) and checking photons with photoelectric sensors, they seemed to be stopping a tremendous amount of the light. Don't do this, but I looked directly at a 455nm diffuse reflected beam at 5.5W @ 10%DC and the visible wavelengths were bright for sure, but the actual laser spot seemed to be cut more than enough. Definitely not scientific but they have that "look" that properly doped material does, you can tell they're laser lenses not just dyed acrylic by simply looking at them in my totally anecdotal opinion :) These aren't for staring at lasers :p but when you do glance at the beam, that's how it works, you end up looking for ~200ms at least, since the lens passed every test I had I glanced to check. I can't certify them but I can say they seem fit for the purpose of preventing permanent injury from accidents. The ones in my package are flawless and they came in a nice foam semi-hard case with microfiber lens wipe, lanyard, and the glasses protected in a heavy bag. Not a scratch on them, no warping and distortion at all even on the curves. For safety glasses period this style would be great. I'll warn you though, when you take them out and pick them up they feel light and flexible and 'flimsy' but as a manufacturer myself I gave that the benefit of the doubt to see if that was on purpose, it totally was. When I slipped and bent the arm out the wrong way but it bounced right back with no harm, it was pretty clear. I thought I trashed the hinge for sure, there was no damage at all though. I did try yanking off an ear cushion, they're secure. The hinge where the screw goes through may be the weakest point but they bulked up the arm and it might be made of nylon too, I think it'll hold up. Absolutely 5 stars from me. ... show more

These Laser Safety Glasses provide OD6 level protection (= 0.0001% Transmission ) for the non-visible wavelengths – i.e., 180-400nm [UV wavelengths] and 800-1100nm [IR wavelengths]. When it comes to PPE, I greatly prefer products like this in which the glasses themselves are directly labelled (see photo) to make its capabilities clear. In this case, I am especially pleased to find an actual transmittance graph included in the product listing. The glasses have also been manufactured to provide 30% Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) so that they are not so dark as to impair your vision while wearing them. I note that the listing also indicates these glasses are scratch and impact-resistant and that they are made from polycarbonate (PC) - which is a preferred material for impact-resistant eyewear - however, there is no official ANSI Z87.1 certification mark on these glasses. These Laser Safety glasses are also specifically dimensioned to be worn over prescription eyewear. I can personally attest that they easily fit over my prescription eyeglasses and I found them comfortable to wear in this configuration. The flexible and adjustable earpieces also made getting a good fit easy and the low-weight created no pressure points on my nose or cheekbones while wearing them. Unless it is essential that you have the ANSI Z87 impact certification, these laser safety glasses should be a very good choice for PPE. ... show more

I love that the large glasses fit over my glasses, meaning I can see while the laser is cutting. They are comfortable and fit my face well.
