I often work by myself, so these tools are ideal for providing that extra set of "hands". They are simple to use, the construction is smooth and well-done. They are put together really well and serve their purpose.

Seems well made. Smooth operation. Has a solid feel and good weight to it. The body is made of strong plastic rather than metal, but seems very tough and should hold up fine.

The item being reviewed is Pro Siding Installation Tools, Siding Gauge Tools, Adjustable Reveal, Heavy-Duty Polycarbonate Build with Non-Slip Pads, Fits 5/16", 3/8", 7/16" Boards – 2 Pack (Brand: Kathleno). I rate it 4 out of 5 stars. If I can give 0.5 star rating, it might be more like 3.5 stars. I was a bit disappointed to find that, this tool is made of plastic, rather than metal. Given the purpose it is for, there are high chances that it would fall from a high place and onto hard ground, so I don’t think that’s a wise choice of material in terms of durability. That said, the build quality does seem sturdy and as long as you are careful not to drop it, it should last long enough. It uses a roller handle on top of a rubber band to grip onto the siding, which I assume would eventually need replacement when the rubber ages. But this part may be DIY-able. Another concern of mine is that, the instruction mentions not to over tighten the tool, and gives demo drawing showing how the handle should be positioned. But there is really no physical mechanism to prevent over tightening. I think it could be designed better. Anyways, despite the concerns above, I still think this would be a useful tool for DIYers. I would think professionals may use something more sophisticated and better built. But this has its usefulness.
