  • Another great entry in the Pretty Princess series.
A lot of reviews and people online are comparing this game to animal crossing, but other than superficial appearances, they aren't alike at all. The gameplay here is more similar to "tycoon" or "management" style games. You build buildings, plant crops, craft items, and everything's on timers. The game keeps the fashion/dress up elements from the first game and similarly has many decorative items to use to decorate your island, though these are optional elements of the game, unlike the first entry. If you're looking for an animal crossing alternative, this isn't it. There's no home decoration (or home at all), the villagers are very simplistic (similar to the first pretty princess game), there's no day/night cycle, and the fishing and bug catching does not nearly have as many to "collect" as the animal crossing games do. Rather, these are used as more of the crafting/refinement pipeline, rather than as a collectathon. That said, this game is plenty fun and doesn't have "down time". Between the decorative elements, the resource management, and the general "Pretty Princess" aesthetic, I've genuinely enjoyed my time with this game. If you're interested in the decoration aspect, go buy Pretty Princess Party (the first game in the series) instead. That one is focused on those elements. This is more about farming, refining, and crafting. ... show more

  • Love this game
I have the first one of this ¿series?, this one being the second. I absolutely love them, this one is more on the gardening/farming side but you have a good amount of thing to do and achieve in it. Decorate and style how you want.

  • Fantastic Follow Up to Pretty Princess Party
I adored Pretty Princess Party, the first in the series, so I had to have Magical Garden Island. It's a direct continuation of the story, but a completely different game. Magical Garden Island is a lot like Animal Crossing, but without all the parts of Animal Crossing that annoyed me! All the characters from Pretty Princess Party return, but now they are opening shop on a neighboring Carrot Island. There, the protagonist princess must grow crops, feed farm animals, and build shops that make things for all the little bunny villagers! And the princess dresses are even better! You can unlock the 50 dresses from the first game, plus 50 more, never before seen dresses! ... show more

  • Don’t expect Animal Crossing
It is not JUST like it, it’s lower budget and shows. The biggest difference is it’s very task focused, there is no day night cycle, doesn’t have the feel of living with neighbors that have personality or really a life sim aspect at all like ACNL The game is just all about grinding out stuff to fulfill tasks and unlock things. If that’s what you want then you will enjoy it. It has more more meaningful farming than ACNH has. There is also a ton of reading from chat and text boxes so keep that in mind if you’re looking to get it for a very young child. Overall I enjoy this as much as if not more than the first entry, my 5 year old likes these games as well. Though they have no multiplayer we play them together on our separate switches. ... show more

  • No pro controller support
I booted up this game and found out it doesn't have pro controller support. Unfortunately it will make it very difficult to play due to carpal tunnel. I'm very disappointed and thrown off because it's so rare for switch games to lack such basic support. I guess that I will have to research each game before I buy in the future to make sure it doesn't lack such support so complicated. I'll update my review if and when the game gets an update that adds pro controller support. ... show more
