We're not going to pretend that this is a particularly high quality set. It is not. But what you get for a bargain price is three classic games all in one box, and it's a great way to start a board game collection, or simply to enjoy these games without having to spend a lot of money. The board is made of cardboard, though it's not particularly flimsy and does the job quite well. The pieces are merely plastic, but they're sturdy and are easy to play with. Purchased to introduce my 5 year old to chess/checkers. He's surprising interested to learn backgammon as well, so BONUS. The board is a bit thin and the pieces do not secure lock but all in all, its holding up really well even with our travel. Great return on a very small investment. This is a great traditional gameboard for family game nights. It is not made very sturdy and is probably too big to be considered for travel. But this should hold up for as often as will be using it for our occasional game nights.
