  • Worth It
I have a Spark 2 amp. So to get it set-up is a bit of a trouble but nothing show stopping. You have to use the App, Fun fact is that if you use the App on your phone and ALSO on an iPad you have to transfer tone to the cloud in order to share them. It just does not magically happen. When setting up the Spark X just have some patience and you will get it. Also they made it really hard to easily see the On/Off and Bluetooth connect buttons on the back of the unit. The On/Off is recessed too making it more difficult to find and use. I know you just have to get used to it but let's make it easy and obvious. I have an Expression Pedal from Boss that I used with my Katana 100 and it works with the Spark X! I use it as a volume pedal which is a must actually for live playing. The Spark X toggles thru each A and B banks, selects one of the four presets AND lets you toggle thru each 'stomp box' for each preset. It is really nice and works. You may have to look at your phone to watch the toggling action to keep track of where you are. There are also those plastic covers which help. It takes about a day or more to fully charge when you get it at first. If you are going to play somewhere it is best to recharge the night before. I really like the footprint of it. Very compact and even with size 13 shoes you can press the buttons. For my set-up I basically only have 2 presets that I use - even though you can have 8 of them. You cannot tell which preset you are on though. Use the B button to move thru presets, but you have to reference your app to know where you are aside from hearing it. The A button toggles thru the first 4 presets and the second set of presets. For the Spark 2 to get it going after setup you have to turn on Spark 2, turn on Spark X, long press Spark 2 Bluetooth button, then load the app on your phone/ipad. A bit expensive but it seems to be worth the cost. Glad I have it. ... show more

  • Look ma, no wires.
Greatly adds to the flexibility and usability of my Spark 2 amplifier. The wireless feature I could live without (due to me being an old fart). But we do live in the future now all is well.

  • Half Baked per usual with Positive Grid
Got it to use with a Spark Mini. Was especially interested in the expression pedal inputs and for volume pedal functionality. Also, the thing I love about the Spark Mini is the portability, and thought this would be a nice addition. However, come to find out with the Spark Mini and Go, not only do you have to always use the app to pair the 2, you have to have your phone or tablet open the whole time. If you close it, the pedal and amp lose connection, and once you open the app back up, reconnection is really hit and miss. Also the app seemed to crash or become unresponsive quite a bit. It was already kind of sketchy just pairing with the amp, but this just added a ridiculous layer of complexity and unreliability. Also be advised, the "volume pedal" literally just controls the master output volume on the guitar channel. Toe up is all the way down, toe down is ALL the way up, with no way to adjust the range. It operates completely independent of the actual volume knob on the amp. In addition, since it controls the volume only at the end of the signal chain, it's completely useless for volume swells. Also. not including the wah pedal add on for a pedal with a dedicated wah pedal input is pretty crappy and greedy... again, completely useless without an additional purchase. If I had been aware of these limitations, I definitely would not have bought it, will be sending it back. ... show more

  • Dead on Arrival. Week before a gig. ***EDIT!*** It's like a Weekend repair project!!
This thing was RUSHED out the door, and under all that corporate squeeze and pressure to produce a pedal product, out came poop instead!! I’m an IT guy. Know a thing or two about troubleshooting. Likely low end electronics is the reason this thing had lights for about 3 minutes, and now will just not take a charge or power on!! No alternatives that will take an EXP pedal!! Waited about 5 days for this to arrive WITH Amazon Prime! Now I have NO foot switch for a gig! Thanks Positive Groin. ***EDIT*** It works now! HERE'S WHAT I HAD TO DO. You PEEL off, the outer skin of the pedal!! YES. THEN, find a paperclip in today's modern digital typical home, and shove it DEEP into the bottom of the unit in a tiny hole and press a tiny little reset button for 5 seconds. OH yeah, I've had to do this twice, now!! So, best to just leave that skin off permanently. SOMETIMES, the lights freeze!!! YES!! FOR SOME reason, the light DON'T CHANGE as you press the buttons to change the presets!! LOOLLLLL... GOOD STUFF.. The presets DO CHANGE though so that's good news!! Just can't make this stuff up!!!! LOOLL. Also, the buttons are very close to each other. Sometimes my feet will "HIT" a completely wrong button triggering clean when I need overdrive!! LOL. I have a replacement on the way.. BOTH will be getting returned just because they are just so LOUSY by design, at $140!!! I also, for the life of me, have no way of getting a Wah pedal working.. JUST JUNK.. WOW. OHHH... Pairing with Bluetooth to the amp?? GOOD LUCK!! Have fun with that.. Takes about 6 to 8 tries each time or so.. SUCH A SHAME, because the Positive Grid 2 unit is such a GEM!!! ... show more

  • Nice addition to spark family..
Built solid and sturdy to last a long time. I use it with my spark 40 amp. It is fun to use and makes switching patches very easy. The Buttons are programable through the app and I also connected an expression pedal for volume control. My only dislike is you have to use the app to connect it. I think the spark live and Spark2 are the only amps it will connect to without the app. ... show more

  • Promising, but not quite ready for prime time.
I bought this with the spark 2 amp. The system sounds good and has great promise. It's a bit too tied to the App. and the connection isn't solid enough to make this a truyly good system. The glitchiness of the bluetooth makes the learning curve steeper than it needs to be. The tap tempo doesn't work it makes the entire system crash. ... show more
