  • Price per pixel, outstanding!
Style: 15.6'' Black
When I received the screen, I was very impressed with the packaging. I was also concerned that the screen was not in the packaging as the package was so light. However, to my surprise when I opened the box there was the screen, multiple cables, a screen protector, and a "wall wart". Once I had applied to screen protector using the wipes and application tools, I was ready to try it out. By the way, the bubbles will kill you and if you are an obsessive person, you will spend quite a while trying to get all the bubbles out. I wasn't quite that dedicated, and I still have a few bubbles. I applied power to the panel which lit up instantly and seem to come out-of-the-box with decent clarity. I then played with the OSD, which I found easy to use and navigate. Once I was satisfied with the functionality the OSD provided, I moved on to plugging an HDMI interface into it. I disconnected what my 30-inch computer screens and plugged in this new lightweight dynamo. I used HDMI and found the color representation along with the clarity to be well past the price point. No, it is not a replacement for large screen; however, is a great complement for one. I typically have five screens connected ranging anywhere from 4K down to 1080 P. This screen easily fit within my display area and was a great representation of the images on other screens. I'm not a gamer so I can provide how incredible the view is while gaming but I can tell you I do photo and video editing and while I would not rely on the colors for print, the colors are great for gauges and other text areas typically displayed. And then, much to my amazement, when I plugged my Android Note 8 into the display, a complete DeX desktop appeared. I have tried other DeX displays, only to be quite disappointed in the capability. But here I was with a smart phone and a lightweight panel now capable of editing documents, trolling the web, and basically using the phone as a lightweight computer. What amazed me the most was it all just "worked". I didn't have to do any fiddling, I didn't have to change any settings, I simply plugged in my phone and the DeX desktop appeared and I can work flawlessly. To interact with my phone, I use a Sensel. DeX had no issue with this and both the mouse and keyboard work flawlessly. While these are not functions of the screen, the screen allows someone to use their device as a makeshift laptop when they are away from their primary computers. I'm also a tinkerer, and so I have plenty of "PI's" laying about. I could plug any of my pies directly into the device and it simply just worked. The screen displays were phenomenal and the screen refresh was more than enough to keep up with things I do on the PI's. But now here's where it gets unbelievably interesting. I have a 3D camera from Sony and I plugged the HDMI output from the camera directly into the screen. It came alive and displayed images perfectly. While it's not a 3D screen it provides a beautiful view of what the camera sees and therefore makes my wife happy as she can continually nag me on how to compose the image. So I guess this is both a bonus and a curse! For audio, I am not the correct person to tell you about that. I am a disabled veteran and hearing is one of my issues. It seems to be decent audio; however, I would not be the one to tell you if the audio is something to purchase this screen for. The supplied audio jack works and supplies audio at a respectable level. So, you need audio at the screen...this panel has what you are looking for. While I rated the display and overall, five, I wanted to take away a couple of fractional points for minor issues. First, in today's world of screens, "touch" is critical. The inability to get touch someone annoyed me. When the images from the Raspberry PIs were displayed, I continually tried to move the mouse with my finger on the screen. I know this is a screen for gaming and external monitor use; however, it would have been great to have a touchscreen to boot. While the number of inputs were fine, I would've preferred at least one more input and the ability to do picture in the picture. I know that's not what this device is sold as, but in today's world these are so commonplace on monitors that to have a panel display with this capability would have been perfect. Another use case I contemplated for the screen because of its clarity and brightness, was to use several of these in a "photo wall". However, since I can purchase a 53-inch television for less than $100 these days, it would not have been cost effective to use these panels. I believe the panels would've been great and I have a son who is creating an immersive environment as part of an art show in San Diego where I believe I will use several of the screens to assist the viewers on their journey. Overall, this screen was well worth the money spent. I cannot over emphasize how lightweight and bright the screen is. Since you have a 30-day money-back guarantee, I highly encourage you (the reader) to gain one screen and try it out. In another 30 days or so I will post another review (more of an update) on how the screen manages to fit into my day-to-day hectic life. ... show more

  • No Touchscreen, 1920x1080. Great Softcover stand for travel. Useless Screen Film Protector.
Style: 15.6'' Black
This product is great for what it is. Note that this is not a touchscreen and is a 1920 x 1080 display with the mini hdmi port on the left side and menu button on the right side. The power usb c is on the right side and the data usb c on the left. The item is very well packaged. At the time of this writing, it is competitively priced for what these specs are considering you get this foldout stand cover that others in this price range do not give you. Correct me if I'm wrong but folding stand covers are not something you can buy separately for any of these portable displays because the overall dimensions are not standardized that it is best to get one that comes with the display. I take that into account during my product research. Otherwise generic stands that are not covers can be bought anywhere if this doesn't matter to you. There is a card inside the box that offers you a few carry case if you leave a review but I'm not taking them up on that offer. The main thing I don't like about this is the useless film screen protector. There are two tabs labelled 1 and 2 but no clear indication which side gets stuck to the screen. The manual does not address this either. Trying to apply the film screen protector introduces bubbles and once you mess that up that's it. There is no second chance attempt. For other devices I have gone with tempered glass protectors for the ease of application, less factors that introduce air bubbles and defects like getting bent, and how you can make micro-adjustments after it was first applied. That is not the case with this. The film can get bent, lose its adhesiveness, introduce a lot of air bubbles across its 13" display that is difficult if not impossible to push out. I hate this film protector for wasting my time that I am deducting 1 star. But overall, for what this product offers, it is a good buy. At this time I use this with a Raspberry Pi 4 setup and also with a Nintendo Switch. The speakers are utility speakers, meaning they are not great but can help you when setting up your system before switching out the audio or for portability's sake, when you are on the go and don't need high fidelity sound for what you are doing. As I repeat from what I said in the beginning, if you want other features this display does not have then consider that a different class of portable display. It is not 2k nor 4k. It os not a touchscreen. But it does come with a softcover stand made for its size. Whichever class portable display you decide on, I recommend one with a softcover stand since you can't buy that separately (generally speaking). ... show more
