I haven’t actually used the tabs yet but I’m sure they will work as advertised. It’s chlorine after all. The bucket of tablets arrived as expected. I immediately noticed the sealing method for the lid. Instructions aren’t necessary but a utility knife and sturdy set of needle nose pliers are. To open the lid on the bucket, first locate the notched pull-tab looking part of the lid. It has a textured surface as if to help grip and pull. Don’t be fooled by this pull tab, it’s pure folly to try and open this with your bare hands. Right above the pull tab is a crease/seam that runs the entire perimeter of the lid. Take your utility knife and starting right near the pull tab, run the point of the blade around this crease enough to score it deeply. The plastic under the crease will taper toward the end. Once the crease is scored, jam the pliers under the pull tab making sure to grab some meat on the plastic beyond it and pull it. A plastic strip should come away from the bucket…this is what frees the lid for removal. Ok, that was the first challenge on your quest; now for part two. Grab the lid with the fingers of both hands, palms resting on the lid. Work your fingers under the lid and pull up using you fingers but applying pressure to the center of the lid with the heels of your palms. The idea is to kind of bend the lid off on one end and then taking the whole thing off. This is where you need to be careful…the fumes from inside the bucket are potent. Very potent. The tablets appear to be individually sealed and they are in a large plastic bag which is why I am amazed at how strong the chlorine smell was. The bucket should have 50 tabs or so and should carry me through the winter until the chlorinator can start working again. I won’t be ordering these online anymore. The pool store may charge a bit more but their buckets are much less unruly to open and I can conveniently return the product if there are issues. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I have a chlorine float for my hot tub, which uses 3-inch tablets. I found this refill, the perfect size, and I had to give these a try. I was not disappointed; this one has worked out great. First off, very easy to use. I like how all I have to do is open the packet, insert the tablet into the float, and it is ready to go, and then the float automatically lots the amount of chlorine that I need into the hot tub water. Secondly, it works great. I like how the hot tub smells great, and I have no irritation; the chlorine has lasted for weeks. Lastly, I really like the safety of the bucket. The tablets are individually wrapped. The wrapped tablets are in a thick plastic bag and then in a thick plastic bucket. I like it when the bucket is sealed; I don't smell chlorine at all and feel safe that the powder is not in the air. Used to be a great bargain to buy. I’d spit with the neighbor and we’d be good for a year or more. But due to the pandemic price increase (gouging) you now need a second mortgage on the house to afford it if ya can even find a 100lb. But they always worked great.     • Good luck taking the lid off!
I gave it 4 stars cause it was nightmare trying to remove the lid. There was no instructions in the box, and nothing on the lid saying how to remove. Finally used a saw to cut hole in the top.

I bought these at a good price but i will not buy them again as it took 20 minutes to get the lid off. I used pliers, a screw driver and a knife to remove the cover. It took about 20 minutes. The design is to pull the tab to open the lid but the scoring was no where deep enough, it was a fight all the way around the container. ... show more
