  • Highly recommended training tool
What a great training tool! I've been playing pool for years. I've been in leagues for 13 years, I've gone to Vegas for World Championships. I say that to say I've been doing this awhile and I've tried a bunch of different tools. Most of the training tools are just ok and only somewhat help you. Pocket Reducers, on the other hand, I've found are some of the best training tools because they force you to figure out how to be more accurate with your shot. I love using these on Valley tables in the bar. Those pockets are so wide that you have a huge margin of error with them. If you can learn to shoot accurately with pocket reducers, then when you play in your local tournament or league, shooting with regular sized Valley pockets will be easy for you. ... show more

  • Get a set and work on tightening up!
I wouldn't keep these on the table for normal play. But they have been a good training tool and have helped improve my game. I recently re-felted my home table, and replaced the rubber. My friend and my brother come over to play about once a month, and they like to make comments about the pockets being messed up from the re-felt whenever they miss a shot. Of course it's just their own poor shot planning, and not the table, but when we put these pocket reducers on, it really made it obvious that they've got some work to do. Maybe they won't pick on my table now. They're spring loaded inserts and they shift around when they get knocked by the ball, but they still serve their intended purpose. They're easy to use, they just pop right in. ... show more

  • Not very useful outside of practicing hitting the center of the pocket.
These pocket reducers work as intended and were simple to install. Simply squeeze the metal rods together and place them in the jaws of the pockets. Here's where they lose out: these seem like they were built more for tables with really open pockets (4 3/4"+). I used them on a Diamond table with 4 1/4" pockets, which reduced them down to roughly 3 3/4", and after a couple of hits on them, they wanted to try and work themselves out of the pockets. The metal ends also overhang the sides of the table, which makes it really easy to knock one out of place or to shoot from near the pockets if the cue ball happens to land in an unfortunate place. I could see these being useful solely as a trainer for setting up shots repeatedly to work on hitting the heart of the pocket, but I would not use them for playing a match against someone, or even just trying to run a practice rack. ... show more

  • Nice training tool for billiards.
If you thought billiards was getting too easy, and you want to challenge yourself a bit, this might be right for you. These easily fit into your pool table pockets and make them a bit more snug, creating a tougher shot to make. You can use this for practice, or for games, but I think it has helped me refine my loose sluggish shots to a much more tuned accurate stroke. ... show more

  • A major disappointment.
I had really high hopes for this set, and I have to say I've found it to be a huge disappointment. It's rather sad, really. I love the concept behind this set of six pocket reducers, though I'm confident that there are others on the market. These seem to be convenient, and were designed to fit on a wide variety of tables. The big problem is (and it's a big one) that they pop out of the pockets. Additionally, they constantly get knocked out as you move around the table. These work by spring tension, and the springs don't appear to be strong enough. They creep up and out of the pockets, and create an obstruction to the shot if you're not paying attention. The last thing I'll point out is that the rubber blocks bounce "dead", not like the rubber rails. This has the effect of changing the action on any ball (object, or cue) that hits it. This makes position impossible. Overall, I must advise against this set. ... show more

  • Great for practice, but not perfect.
These pocket reducers work well. The added challenge of having an even smaller pocket can be frustrating, but then once you remove them, a standard sized pocket feels HUGE and you feel like a pool playing god. I really like the ease of installation, they just pop in. Unfortunately, that ease of installation also comes with ease of dis-installation, and occasionally they do dislodge themselves. It's not a frequent occurrence, but it has happened to me a couple of times. Despite the occasional inconvenience, I highly recommend these to anyone looking to take their game to the next level. ... show more

  • Nice idea, low quality of play
Idea is nice, but these do not stay securely in the pockets and I have to readjust them every time I shoot a ball in. Or that just means I need to be a better shot. Either way, 2 stars.

  • Pocket accuracy
I got these pocket reducers because my pool table is basically a black hole—every ball just disappears, even the bad shots, which doesn't actually make you any better at the game 🤣 I wanted to force myself to shoot straighter because I was getting lazy with those wide pockets. These things are simple to put in, you just squeeze them and slide them right into the opening and suddenly your pockets look mean and tiny, like they are daring you to make a shot. It is a bit frustrating at first, not going to lie, because you realize how much you rely on luck and the giant pocket size. But after just a few hours of practice, I could feel myself paying way more attention to my aim and cue control. I actually started to hit the center of the pocket instead of skimming the side. The material feels right too, like the cushion around the table so the bounce is totally normal if you clip one of them. It doesn't throw your game off when that happens. When I take them off and play a regular game, the pockets look huge again, like I could sink a basketball in there 🏀 My friends noticed the difference right away when we played last weekend. If you are serious about improving your accuracy and getting rid of those sloppy shots, you totally need these. They are a great way to force yourself to focus on precision and truly tighten up your game, it works. ... show more
