These are so much more functional than some shorts that cost 2-4x as much!! Fit is on the larger side (similar to REI brand) but matched the size chart, at least in size small. The #1 feature I wanted was multiple well-placed zipped pockets, and these have that covered with side pockets at the thighs which go towards the back. This is a perfect location for staying out of the way while you ride. They also have standard front pockets (non-zip), which I wish had a bit lower and/or larger opening—it’s a bit hard to get a hand in there to pull things out, though it probably also helps things stay in while riding. One potential downside for short people is that these are LONG. However, they wouldn’t be too hard to hem if needed (the PNW logo appears to be a patch that’s sewn on). One last positive: the waist adjusters are little straps (with those slide lock things like on backpack straps), NOT velcro. The adjustment range is limited but probably enough to help if between sizes.

These are my favorite MTB shorts, they have good flex, are narrow to your legs and stay out of the way well. Fit was as expected. I like them enough to wear them as shorts when not riding.

I am 5'7.5" and 160 lbs and ordered a medium. The length is just at the knee, which I love and the width in the hips is perfect, they are not baggy, but not tight. The waist is adjustable, so my small waist is happy. I've washed them several times and they still look good. Items placed in the pockets are well out of the way while cycling. I'm buying a second pair, wish they had more colors.

Super comfortable on hot and humid late spring central NC rides! The Amazon recommended size and the PNW Compontents size guide (on their website) agreed on a size Small, which fit perfectly. These are available here at a fraction of the price of the PNW website and definitely of some other great brands, so I have definitely recommended them to friends. The men's version works well for my husband, also.
