I want to start by saying I am a HUUUUGE Playmobil fan. I highly and adamantly recommend the brand to anyone with kids. My two kids probably have over a hundred different sets (big and small) and not a single one has EVER come with broken or missing pieces. The quality of parts, the way the pieces click together at set-up, the sturdiness once assembled, attention to detail, creativity, playability, uniqueness....the Playmobil brand literally has it all, and has been our go-to brand of toys for years now. HOWEVER, for the first time, I sadly must say, I'm disappointed. I have purchased a total of 10 Playmobil Advent Calendars (2 per year for the last 5 years) and I've been impressed with, and my children have loved, each one. This is the first PM advent calendar I have come across that requires the purchase of another set in order to utilize all the parts. Days 8, 9, and 22 all require the car set (set 70317) to use them. This means that 3 out of the 24 days are basically useless to us because we don't have the car. The items for Day 8 are 4 wheels, Day 9 is an engine thing that straps to the hood of the car, and the 22nd is wheels AGAIN with 3 tiny colored scroll things. None usable unless you have the car. Now, I must say, on the box in the bottom right corner there is a note showing compatibility with the car set, and had I fully paid attention to that and the pictures of the item contents on the side of the box, I would have realized that we'd end up with 8 useless wheels and an engine at the end unless I purchased that other set BUT really??? Playmobil, you're better than that! If this was a different brand, I don't think I'd be as upset because stuff like that is typical with lesser quality, Big Box Store brand toys but NOT Playmobil. PLEASE don't become that, Playmobil...you are better than that! ... show more

This is an amazing followup to last year's advent calendar - this one differs from last year's by offering mini scenes from the various time periods - it also includes some great character versions from the 3rd film (which was always my favorite) - including new tires and add-ons to modify your existing Delorean (not included) - I highly recommend! Note: The only reason I marked sturdiness at a 3 is the scenes are cardboard - so you do have to be fairly gentle. That aspect is more for display than play. ... show more

I was really excited for this calendar, but it was mainly disappointing. Some parts were tires in one door and wheels for the full size Time Machine in another, which are unless unless you have it. Accessories for the same mini figure were in multiple days. The cardboard scenes were flimsy and wouldn’t stand straight. PLAYMOBIL HAS DONE A GREAT JOB WITH THE BACK TO THE FUTURE DELOREAN ACCESSORIES BOXES BUT THIS TIME THEY REALLY JUST EITHER GOT CHEAP OR JUST HAD A MENTAL MIDGET HANDLING THE ACCESSORIES THAT GET MADE! I purchased this as a Christmas gift for a Back to the Future fan. I didn't realize that there were multiple days that were pieces/accessories to a different set that I hadn't purchased. (Probably 3-4 days) I don't think this is a great idea for an advent calendar where every day is supposed to be a prize. ... show more
