  • trumpet video at its easiest
I have had an opportunity to go thru and view the video and found it to have great content, easy to follow instruction and a sound to learn for further encouragement. really great, thanks

  • A good introduction to the trumpet
This is a lot better method than the stars suggest, say for a comeback player (from decades, not years ago), or a kid you've promised your old trumpet to. The DVD is only an introduction, good if there's no one around to show the kid how to hold and lubricate it. And get a sound out of it. If you've ever played before, you don't need it. The book and CD are great together: they provide a model of what a trumpet is supposed to sound like and help in learning to read music. The tracks are especially helpful when ripped and opened in Audacity, which allows highlighting measures that need special work and slowing down the tempo to where the beginner can keep up, and then increasing it slowly to beyond the CD's tempo to something that doesn't seem to drag. The book only covers the first four scales but has a more interesting approach to arpeggios than more "serious" methods. I liked the selection of tunes, but that's a personal matter. They're short enough to be memorized, and with the audio track the player can concentrate on coming in on time on the right note and eventually listening to what the rest of the guys are doing. I got this after not touching a trumpet for over 40 years, when I was barely able to get it to speak. After starting with this, I couldn't put the horn down, no matter how bad I sounded at first, even though my face felt like it had been doing pushups half the night. (Book Two was even better, although I started having to check some of the fingerings.) The book was worth the price just for the fun factor. ... show more

  • I think it's nearly useless and does not worth its price.
The video is only 26 minutes 15 seconds long. The man in the video explains some basic aspects of playing technique, but I think it's easy to find better videos searching on youtube.

  • This DVD Offers Practically Nothing
Its 26 minutes long and by far the weakest title in their series. Just shows you quarter and whole notes, does not discuss tuning. I knew it was going to be bad when the host suggested that you lay your case on a flat surface..."such as a table" Hal Leonard dumbed this one down way too much and charged the full price too. I got mine from the library, suggest you do the same if you have 26 minutes to kill. Not worth buying it. ... show more

  • Excellent Series
This series is great for self teaching, what you need to know to get going.
