  • Great
Size: 27 inch 180Hz
I'm reviewing the 27-inch 180Hz model, and overall I'm pretty impressed with what you're getting for the price. It's kind of amazing that you can get a 27-inch IPS gaming monitor running at 180Hz this inexpensively now. Picture quality is good, and the IPS panel gives you the viewing angles and overall image quality I'd expect. The 180Hz refresh rate is the real selling point, though. Everything feels extremely smooth, and for gaming it's a massive improvement over a basic 60Hz or 75Hz monitor. Build quality is also perfectly good considering the price. Nothing about it feels unusually cheap or poorly put together. It does support HDR, but I wouldn't buy it for that feature. In my experience, HDR on normal IPS panels is basically useless, and that isn't really a criticism specific to this Philips. I've yet to use a standard IPS monitor where enabling HDR actually made me prefer the picture. I look at it more as a compatibility feature than something you'll actually want to use. Personally, I think the picture looks better with HDR turned off. Obviously, this is still a 1080p monitor, so you're not getting the resolution of a more expensive 1440p or 4K display. But that's also not what this is trying to compete with. For someone primarily interested in getting a large, fast gaming display without spending a lot of money, the combination of a 27-inch IPS panel and 180Hz refresh rate is an excellent value. Good picture, good build quality, very smooth gaming and a price that would have seemed impossible for these specs not that long ago. 5 out of 5 stars. ... show more

  • A reasonably priced monitor that is great for watching videos
Size: 27 inch 180Hz
I had a 27” computer monitor that I really liked that stopped working recently and I switched it out for a 22” monitor. Everything felt so small and claustrophobic. When I found this very reasonably priced 27” alternative I was excited to try it out. My use case for this monitor is for home office use, where I manage some computers and watch some videos. I don’t type documents or review spreadsheets on this monitor, that is reserved for my laptop. So, as long as things look good and it can support 1080p, I am happy. I think this monitor looks great. The high, 180Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms response time make video look nice and smooth. I also like that the monitor uses Flicker-Free technology and supports LowBlue Mode which should make prolonged times in front of the monitor easier on my eyes. It felt surprisingly lightweight to me (just over 7 pounds with the stand). Putting the stand on the monitor was easy, just lock the cylinder into the base and then lock the top of the cylinder into the bottom of the monitor. It took me 5 minutes to put together. It seems sturdy and is at a good height for my viewing purposes, but doesn’t support a lot of adjusting. This monitor also supports VESA mounting, so you can always use an aftermarket stand if you need more adjustments for your situation. The monitor only has one HDMI and one Displayport input and a 3.5mm audio output. I really like that the monitor has physical buttons along the bottom for power and other adjustments. The only real downside is that this monitor doesn’t support resolutions above 1080p (no 4k support) if you are looking for that. I am very happy with this monitor and think it's a great value at its current price of $109.99. ... show more

  • Best 27inch monitor for around $100.
Size: 27 inch 180Hz
I’m really happy with this monitor. It’s 27 inches and 1080p, which I know is probably where some monitor enthusiasts start screaming that it should be QHD. Honestly though, I really can’t tell much of a difference for what I’m using it for. Not everyone has a high-end graphics card that can push higher resolutions without making the GPU work overtime. At ~$100, this honestly an insane deal. The picture looks great to me. Colors are vibrant and glows really nicely. and plenty of screen space at 27 inches. The 180Hz refresh rate is also a nice bonus, especially for gaming. Everything feels smooth and responsive, no shadowy tracing when i move my mouse around quickly. I also like that it has Adaptive-Sync and HDR10 support. I’m not going to pretend I’m sitting here measuring color accuracy with some fancy equipment, but the monitor looks good to my eyes and games look really nice. This is really what matters to me. The connectivity is pretty good too, with HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and an audio output. The stand also has a pretty clean, simple design and doesn't take up a ridiculous amount of desk space. Overall, 5 stars from me. Great size, great refresh rate, good picture, and plenty of useful features. Could I get a QHD monitor? Sure. But for someone who wants a good 27-inch gaming monitor for ~100. I’m very happy with this one. Insane deal. ... show more

  • Comfortable Monitor
Size: 27 inch 180Hz
I picked up this Philips 27E2G2200 for a mixed gaming and work setup, and the 180Hz refresh rate has made a real difference in fast-paced games, motion feels noticeably smoother compared to my previous 60Hz monitor. The 0.5ms response time has kept ghosting to a minimum during quicker action sequences. IPS panel has provided good color accuracy and viewing angles, useful for both gaming and general productivity work where consistent color representation matters. HDR10 has added nice depth to compatible content, giving richer contrast without needing separate calibration. Flicker-free and Eyesafe technology have genuinely reduced eye strain during longer work sessions, something I've noticed especially during extended periods at the computer for both work and gaming. SoftBlue feature has been a nice addition for evening use, reducing blue light exposure without needing a separate software solution. Build quality feels solid, stand has provided stable support without wobbling during regular use. The 4 year advance replacement warranty has given real peace of mind for a monitor at this price point. For anyone wanting a fast, comfortable monitor that performs well for both gaming and daily computer use, this has delivered strong performance and genuine comfort improvements during extended screen time. ... show more

  • Budget gaming monitor that holds its own
Size: 27 inch 180Hz
This monitor has a nice picture in a thin form factor for a great price. Like most budget gaming monitors refresh rate and response time are prioritized with this monitor delivering 180 Hz and 4ms respectively. The compromise at this price is a lower color gamut and lower brightness. This monitor reproduces color at a 79% NTSC rating and has a max brightness of 300 nits. This monitor not only has a thin bezel around the screen but is also quite thin. Having the AC/DC converter external to the monitor is part of what makes this possible. Being so thin, all the plugs that go into the monitor - power, HDMI, Display Port and audio go in at a 90 degree angle to the back of the monitor. As a budget gaming monitor, I think the compromise decisions made results in an extremely useable balance and the decision to have the AC/DC converter external also a good choice to keep the monitor itself thin and light. There are two main things I do find disappointing: The controls. which are a set of 5 buttons in a row. I much prefer the "single-stick" control type which I find more intuitive and easy to control. The stand, which is very short. From an ergonomics standpoint, monitor and keyboard on the same level and the user sitting upright means your eyes will not fall on the top 1/3rd of the monitor as the OSHA standard recommends. Chair and keyboard need to go down, or monitor needs to go up. The included picture has a water bottle to use as a scale showing how high the monitor sits off the surface. ... show more

  • Good All Around Monitor
Size: 27 inch 180Hz
This monitor is a nice budget monitor that hasn't let me down in any of the many things I have done with it. Setting it up is straight forward and simple. The base snaps together in a couple of steps and that's it, your ready to go. I went with a monitor arm and used the VESA mount which worked great. I connected it via HDMI to an Asrock 6800xt in a desktop system. It games well at its native resolution. I haven't played a slew of games on it but the three I have had time to run on it looked great. I think this IPS panel is really solid for the price. I haven't had any issues with dead pixels, motion blur, ghosting or any other typical IPS problems. Gaming on it has been fine. Typing and reading documents is crystal clear to my old eyes. They use some eye fatigue tech that seems to work well as I had no issues reading and editing several documents for 20 or 30 minutes. I watched a several videos on it that looked just as I thought they should. Blacks looked good, whites were nice as well. For the price, this monitor really hits all of the bases. I mean it's obviously not a monster OLED but for what it is...it does the job well. ... show more

  • 180Hz!
Size: 27 inch 180Hz
Coming off an old 60Hz monitor, the jump to 180Hz was immediately obvious. Just dragging windows around looks different. In games it's smoother than anything I've played on before, and I stopped noticing the tearing I used to get because the adaptive sync handles it without me touching any settings. It's an IPS panel, so the colors look good from off angles, which matters because my desk is in a corner and I'm rarely sitting perfectly straight in front of it. HDR10 is there and it helps a bit in darker games, though I wouldn't buy this specifically for HDR. There's a LowBlue mode that I flip on in the evening and it does make long sessions easier on my eyes. Assembly took under ten minutes, just clip the stand on and plug it in. If I'm nitpicking, the built in stand only tilts, so I ended up putting a couple of books under it to get the height right. Also it has HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort but no cable clutter management to speak of. Neither of those changes how much I like it. For a second monitor or a budget main display, this is an easy recommendation. ... show more

  • Fantastic image and colors, basic monitor
Size: 27 inch 180Hz
I chose this Philips 27" Gaming Monitor (model 27E2G2200) because I wanted to upgrade to 180hz from 60hz and my current monitor is 27" so wanted something the same size. The 2-piece stand assembly was a breeze, just taking a few minutes following the instructions. The 180hz is immediately noticeable and is a HUGE upgrade coming from 60hz: everything from just moving my mouse at the desktop to watching videos online is the 180hz is a massive improvement and incredibly smooth, I can't even look at my old monitor anymore. I'll preface this by the fact that I'm no expert, but the colors on this IPS panel look very nice, vivid, and the monitor can get exceptionally bright, so much I had to turn down the brightness way down. It is a very basic monitor, especially in terms of ports on the back, and you only get a power jack, HDMI in, DP in, and 3.5mm audio out, but most people will not need any more. Overall, I would say this monitor offers excellent value for the money. ... show more
